Dear Editor:
As a Springfield resident and parent, I support keeping the Blue Devil as mascot. I believe the mascot of any school does not influence students to behave in any way. What they are taught inside the building and at home are what makes their character.
I am not a Blue Devil alumni, I am an Evergreen Viking and am proud of both. Being a Viking did not teach me to do what they did in history, it is only a symbol. When I was in high school I viewed Springfield as a good school district for what they did not because of the mascot, and when I met my husband many years ago and he had bought a house in the district, I was happy. He happens to be a Maumee Panther, he also supports the Blue Devil. Patty and Todd Osborn
