Lois P. (Redouty) Bell, 75, a lifelong resident of Perrysburg, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born in Perrysburg, on April 30, 1935, to Ellsworth and Anna (Stewart) Redouty. She was a 1953 graduate of Perrysburg High School. She married Herald “Buddy” Bell on August 28, 1954, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg, where she was a member of Helping Hands. For more than 20 years, she was a travel agent with Hayes Travel Agency. She is survived by her sons, Herald “Rusty” Bell and Gary (Kristen) Bell; son-in-law, William Pearce; grandchildren, Jordan Pearce, John Montgomery, Morgan, Ryan, Caroline and Cole Bell, and sisters, Cecelia Lambert and Mary Della (Robert) Henry of Perrysburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy, on October 8, 2009, and daughter, Judy Bell Pearce. A Scripture Service was held Monday, July 19, in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Tuesday, July 20, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose Catholic Church. Burial was in St. Rose Cemetery. Richard “Dick” Reis, 84, of Trinity, Florida, died Sunday, July 11, 2010, in New Port Richey. He was born to Charles and Alma Reis on January 26, 1926, in Perrysburg. After spending his childhood years in Perrysburg, Mr. Reis joined the Air Force, after which he earned a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in counseling from Bowling Green State University. Following graduation, he taught and coached at Arcadia High School in Arcadia, Ohio. Shortly thereafter, he married Dolores “Dee” Rimmelin in 1950. Their seven children were born and raised in Perrysburg. Mr. Reis spent his career (31 years) with Gulf Oil in Ohio and Michigan. Following retirement, he and his wife, Dee, moved to Largo, Florida, before settling in Trinity. Mr. Reis was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing on trips to Ohio well into his 80s. He golfed regularly and enjoyed sports of all kinds; he was a dedicated fan of all sports teams. He is survived by wife, Dee, of Trinity; children, Patricia (Noel) Leduc of Port Richey, Richard Reis II of Forks, Washington, Peggy (Tom) Holdrege- Reis of Nevada City, California, Lynn Egert of Portage Lakes, Ohio, James Reis of Palm Harbor, Florida, Mary Reis of Palm Harbor, and Carol Reis of North Port, Florida; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Honor guard graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 27, at Bay Pines Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Florida. Marvin A. “Tex” Warton, 92, of Perrysburg, died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at the Avalon by Otterbein. He was born April 23, 1918, in Vernon, Texas, to Fred and Ellie (Weathers) Warton. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served his country during World War II. He retired from the Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Co., where he had worked as a boiler operator. Mr. Wharton was a member of the Holy Cross Council #5139 Knights of Columbus, the Rossford VFW Post and the Maumee Masonic Lodge. He also was a lifetime and original member of the Tangle Wood Golf Course. Mr. Warton is survived by his sons, Marvin “Sonny” (Gail) and John (Pam) Warton; daughter, Marie Pheils; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, and sisters, Freda Baldwin and Ruth Allen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, and his brothers, Bill, JW, Robert and David Warton A recitation of the Rosary was held Sunday, July 18, at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, by members of the Holy Cross Council #5139 Knights of Columbus. Prayer Services began Monday, July 19, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg. Burial was in St. Rose Cemetery. Robert A. Blair, 68, died Saturday, July 10, 2010, at his home. He was born June 5, 1942, in Toledo, and remained a resident of the area. He graduated from Clay High School and the University of Toledo. Mr. Blair was a commercial designer who worked for various companies, including SSOE and The Collaborative, before creating his own firm, Robert A. Blair, ASID, in Perrysburg. He enjoyed antiquing and collecting, vintage cars and boats and weekends at Lakeside. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Nora (Sullivan) Blair; mother, Rebecca (Williams) Blair; sisters, Susan (Michael) Peart, Virginia (David Slesinski) Blair; father-inlaw, Jerome Sullivan; brothers-in-law, James (Michelle) and J. Michael (Darlene) Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Blair; brother, James Blair, and mother-inlaw, Ann (Dorcic) Sullivan. Services will be private. Jeffery “Jeff” Alan Braden, 58, of Perrysburg, died Thursday, July 1, 2010, in St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born to John and Josephine (Welty) Braden on July 26, 1951, in Toledo. He was a personnel consultant for Renhill for many years. He also was the owner/operator of the Huron Market. Mr. Braden was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his mother, Josephine “Jo” Braden-Meyer; siblings, Jackie Reno, Joe (Annette) Braden, Patty (Bob) Alexander and Melinda Braden; 12 nieces and nephews; 24 great-nieces and great-nephews, and special friend, Sue Keeling- Old. He was preceded in death by his father, John Braden, in 1965, and brother, Douglas Braden, in 1988. A memorial service to celebrate of Mr. Braden’s life was held Saturday, July 10, at Zoar Lutheran Church, Perrysburg, with the Rev. Ann Marshall officiating. Arrangements were made by the David R. Jasin- Hoening Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation. Sam Haddad, 61, died unexpectedly in his home on Saturday, July 3, 2010. He was born on October 28, 1948, to Sam and Wajiha Haddad, in Toledo. A Woodward High School graduate, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and went on to graduate from the University of Toledo in 1973. He was a successful small business owner and operator of Tri State Motors on the Central Avenue Strip and was currently enjoying retirement, playing golf and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Haddad is survived by his daughter, Christina (Jeff) Polesovsky of Columbus; sister, Elaine Barber of Toledo; nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Barber, Gregory (Tracy) Barber, Lisa (Eric) Zahnle, Robert Barber and Sheryl (Jim) Bair; uncle, Joseph Seif, cousins; great-nieces and great-nephew, and many friends, including Lora Haddad. John C. Knurek, 93, of Genoa, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born March 10, 1917, in Rossford, to Teofil and Sophia (Mucha) Knurek. On February 27, 1943, in Genoa, Ohio, he married Mary Verkin. For 32 years, Mr. Knurek worked for the former Sealtest Dairy in Toledo, and for six years he worked at the University of Toledo, retiring in 1982. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving as an engineer at the Replacement Center. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa, and had been a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in east Toledo. He is survived by his sons, John (Medy) Knurek of Crescent Hill, Illinois, and Michael (Kathy) Knurek of Toledo; daughter, Helen DeCant of Oregon; grandchildren, Annemarie, Tim, Emily and Steve Knurek, Janette (Mike) O’Connor, and Joseph DeCant; greatgrandchildren, Katheryn Hendricks, Michael O’Connor Jr., and Sean O’Connor, and sister, Helen Stemen of Perrysburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, on May 24, 2009. He also was preceded in death by his grandson, Benjamin Knurek. A Rosary service was held Thursday, July 8, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, in Genoa. The funeral mass was conducted Friday, July 9, in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Genoa, followed by interment in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. Military graveside services were conducted by the Genoa American Legion Post #324. Day, 61, of Perrysburg, died Sunday, July 11, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee. Mr. Day was vice president of Willis Day Management and former president of Willis Day Moving and Storage, beginning his tenure with the organization in 1971, after graduating from Hillsdale College with a degree in business administration. He worked with his brother, Jeffrey; cousins, Willis and John, and other family members during his time at Willis Day. He was especially proud of an effort with Owens Corning that resulted in a major sixmonth moving project in Saudi Arabia. Mr. Day had been a member of the Rotary Club of Perrysburg since 1985, and served as president (1991-92), Governor’s Group Representative (1993- 95), Foundation Chairperson (1994-95), Secretary (1995- 2000), Centennial Governor for District 6600 (2004-05), and served on the All-Ohio PETS committee for 15 years. He was a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, Major Donor and Bequest Donor and also a recipient of the Rotary District Foundation Service Award, the Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service (1995), and the Rotary Service Above Self Award (2010). In 2008, Mr. Day led the Group Study Exchange Team in India as treasurer of the Polio Eradication Campaign Committee. Mr. Day also made numerous trips to Central America beginning in 2003, with the Rotary’s Uniendo America Project Fair, a launching pad for microcredit projects in water, hunger, health, education, transportation and shipping, and the environment. He was president of the Perrysburg School Board in 1996, serving on the board from 1994 to 1997. He also was a member of Belmont Country Club, helped establish the Perrysburg YMCA, and was on the board of the Mayflower Warehouseman’s Association. He enjoyed boating, grilling and spending time with his family at his Catawba Island vacation property that had been in the Day family since the 1920s. He was born September 20, 1948, to Thomas and Nancy Day. Mr. Day was a graduate of Maumee Valley Country Day School. He married Janet Deffenbaugh in 1987. Mr. Day is survived by his wife, Janet; sons, Luke and Landon; daughters, Lisa Martin and Stephanie Kollm; brother, Jeffery (Barbara); sister, Nancy Day (George Arnos), and grandchildren, Natalie Martin and Kaitlyn Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents. There will be no visitation, but there will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, at St. Timothy Episcopal Church, 871 East Boundary Street, Perrysburg, with the Rev. Kenneth Pepin officiating. A reception will follow at the Carranor Hunt and Polo Club in Perrysburg. Arrangements are being made by the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg. MARY JANE SCHWERTFEGER Paul Philip Szymanski, “Paul P,” 46, of Perrysburg, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at his home. He was born October 9, 1963, in Toledo, to Philip and Ruth Szymanski. He was a graduate of St. John’s Jesuit High School and the University of Toledo. He married Sandra Wagner on July 1, 1989. Mr. Szymanski was a paper consultant for Commerce Paper Company, in Toledo, for 18 years. He was a member of the Toledo Junior Golf Association, serving as its president from 1998 to 2001. He was an active member of St. Rose Parish, and a member of the Eucharistic team to Heartland of Perrysburg. He also was a member of the American Cancer Society Team Footprints Relay for Life team, and a mentor to many newly-diagnosed cancer patients. He enjoyed golfing. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Sandra Szymanski; father, Philip Szymanski; brothers, Mark (Debbie), Matt (Linda), Michael (Lisa), Nicholas (Amy); sisters, Laura Kaczmarek and Jackie (Jeff) Jarvis; mother-in-law, Mary Wagner; brothers-in law and sisters-in-law, Carl (Sherry) Wagner, Mark (Lynn) Wagner, Bill (Karen) Wagner, Linda (Dan) Truman, Joanne (Mark) Olnhausen, James Wagner, Patricia Wagner (Chris Miller), Joseph (Vicki) Wagner, John Wagner, David (Michelle) Wagner, Robert (Frances) Wagner and Jennifer Phillips; 32 nieces and nephews, and special childhood friends, BJ (Tammy) Claus, Patrick (Kerry) Streb, Brian Jorris, and their families. EUNICE KAZMAIER Antonio C. Yap, M.D., 77, of Perrysburg, died Sunday, June 20, 2010, in his home. For more than 35 years, Dr. Yap cared for the families of the greater Toledo- area as a pediatrician. He was an active advocate for health care reform. Along with a private practice that he started in 1972, Dr. Yap served as former chief of pediatrics for Flower and Mercy Hospitals. He also served on the medical staff of St. Luke’s, St. Charles, St. Vincent, Toledo Children’s and Toledo Hospital. He has been recognized for his 20 years of service to Mercy Hospital and 25 years of service to St. Luke’s Hospital and 30 years of service to Flower Hospital. Dr. Yap was born on June 13, 1933, to Martina and Crescencio Yap in Romblon, Philippines. At the age of six, he was left an orphan along with his 12 brothers and sisters with the early passing of his parents. He was raised by his eldest sister, Felicitas Chua, and brother-in-law, Mateo, who encouraged him to be a physician. In 1962, he graduated from Manila Central University with his doctor of medicine degree. In 1963, he arrived in the United States to complete his residency in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. He began his private practice in 1972, and has since then cared for more than 20,000 infants, children and adolescents. Dr. Yap was a founding member of Special Commission on Relief and Education (SCORE), a philanthropic group focused on providing medical, surgical care and education to the medically underserved areas of the Philippines. He also has served in many leadership positions in the Toledo community on numerous boards and medical organizations. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nilza; children, Antoinette (Mark) Wilson, Yvonne (Allan) Donaldson, Gil and Eric Yap; grandsons, Alec, Carter and Hunter; siblings, Felicitas, Louisa and Dominidor, and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass was held Friday, June 25, at St. Rose Church, Perrysburg. A reception was held at the Yap residence following the service. THOMAS TURNER IRENE KUJAWA JOHN BEROTH JANICE KOPERSKI KENNETH LARSON Florence J. Nissen, 93, of Perrysburg, and formerly of Oregon, Ohio, died Sunday, June 20, 2010, in the Manor of Perrysburg. Mrs. Nissen was born in Toledo, on September 27, 1916, to Julius and Mary (Ordakowski) Gosciniak. She was a graduate of Woodward High School. She then attended barber school in Buffalo, New York, where she became the first lady barber in the city of Buffalo. She later was the owner and operator of Hampton Park Beauty Shop for 15 years before her retirement in 1955. She was a member of Memorial United Church of Christ, the Eagles Auxiliary and a charter member of the Sun Oil Square Dancing Club. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Roud) Klag; son, Ted (Nancy) Nissen; grandchildren, Ben, Sally, and Russell Klag, Kelly Nissen; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Kaden, Madison and Nathen Klag; brother, Raymond Gosciniak, and sister, Edna Summers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Nissen, in 1997, and grandson, Lee Klag, in 2009. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 22, in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel. Interment was in Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial United Church of Christ. Ernestine M. Stanley, 89, formerly of Warren, Michigan, died June 9, 2010, in Perrysburg. She was born in Detroit on July 16, 1920. She enjoyed her roses and making apple pies. She is survived by her children, Sharon Dewar, Virginia (Gerald) Fischer- Grayson, and Robert (Linda); grandchildren, Kimberly (Kurt) Steinfeldt, Pamela Brackett, Steven (Aimee) Fischer, John Dewar, Dennis (Jennifer) Fischer, Jennifer (Derek) Fedderson, Elizabeth, James, Sandra, and 13 great-grandchildren. John Matthew Tighe, 74, of Perrysburg, died Monday, June 14, 2010, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born in Toledo, on June 23, 1935, to John and Hilda (Schwartz) Tighe. He married Barbara Vogelpohl, in Toledo, on January 12, 1957. He was a 1953 graduate of Central Catholic High School and a 1961 graduate of the University of Toledo. Mr. Tighe worked as treasurer for Faraday and Co. in Tecumseh, Michigan, until retiring in 1997. Previously, he served as vice president of finance and treasurer at American Warming and Ventilating, Maumee, for 29 years. He was a member of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and also a member of the American Legion in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Tighe is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barb; son, Kevin (Stacy) Tighe of Cary, North Carolina; daughter, Debbie (Greg) Branic of Strongsville, Ohio; granddaughters, Courtney and Meghan Tighe of Cary, and Katie, Molly and Emily Branic of Strongsville; brother-inlaw, David (Cathy) Vogelpohl of Gainesville, Georgia; sister-in-law, Connie Tighe of Linesville, Pennsylvania; 14 nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and greatnephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Tighe, and sisters, Margaret Tighe and Sr. Virginia Tighe OSU. A Scripture Service was held Thursday, June 17, at the Maison-Dardenne- Walker Funeral Home, Maumee. Funeral services began in the funeral home on Friday, June 18, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church with the Rev. Robert Wilhelm officiating. Interment was in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio. NANCY DAY Cyril M. “Morrie” Descamps, 81, died Friday, June 11, 2010, at Blanchard Valley Hospital. He was born January 1, 1929, in Maumee, to Edward and Yvonne (Coopman) Descamps. He served as a United States Marine in the Korean War. He was involved in the Chosin Reservoir Battle and was one of the few to survive that battle. Mr. Descamps served the Perrysburg community for 34 years; four years as a patrolman, 10 years as assistant chief, and 20 years as the chief of police, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the American Legion Post #28 and a former member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was an avid fisherman and fished all the lakes, rivers, and streams of Michigan and Ohio. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He also enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. Mr. Descamps is survived by his children, Craig Descamps, Robin (Mike) Failor and Cheryl Descamps; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Edward Descamps; companion, Phyllis Willford, and former wife and mother of his children, Cathryn Descamps. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Descamps. Visitation will be held today, June 16, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Zoar Lutheran Church, 314 East Indiana Avenue, Perrysburg, with funeral services beginning at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Stephen Bryon Hodges, 94, died June 9, 2010, at his residence. He was born January 3, 1916, in Little Falls, New Jersey, to Samson and Nellie (Bryon) Hodges. He attended Toledo University and graduated with a master’s degree from New York University. He married Marjory “Marmy” Ward on July 6, 1946, in Toledo. Mr. Hodges served in World War II as a Navy pilot in the South Pacific Theater, aboard the aircraft carrier Shipley Bay (CVE-85). He served in campaigns at Guadalcanal, the Philippines, and Okinawa. Upon returning from active duty, Mr. Hodges settled in Bradford, Pennsylvania, and became marketing director for Dresser Industries. He then went on to become an investment counselor for First Albany Corporation. He was an active member of the Bradford community, serving and supporting a variety of local concerns. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bradford, where he sang in the choir for 50 years. He was a volunteer for Bradford Regional Medical Center for more than 18 years. He was a past president and member of Kiwanis Club, a board trustee for the YMCA, and director of the Children’s Outreach program which provided meals for needy children. He and his wife served as co-presidents of the Bradford Naturalist Club for 25 years. They were active in student foreign exchange programs, hosting 32 exchange students in their home. Mr. Hodges was a Student Life committee member at the University of Pittsburgh, Bradford, and active with The United Way. His parents were officers of the Salvation Army, and he continued the tradition by serving on the advisory board for more than 55 years, and ringing the bell for the Salvation Army Christmas kettles. In 1989, he received the Golden Deeds Award from the Bradford Exchange Club for his many contributions to the Bradford community. He is survived by his wife, Marmy; children, David (Carmen) Hodges of Big Timber, Montana, Matthew (Irene) Hodges of Arlington, Massachusetts, Martha (Rick) Nork of Northfield, Michigan, Kate (Dave) Burleigh of Socorro, New Mexico and Timothy (Cathy) Hodges of Auburntown, Tennessee, and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. A memorial service will be held today, June 16, at the First United Methodist Church, 200 West Second Street, Perrysburg, with the Rev. Pete Johnston officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Meigs Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Bradford, Pennsylvania. Anderson, 27, of Perrysburg, died Monday, May 31, 2010, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born September 30, 1982, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Judi (Barnette) Anderson. He was a 2001 graduate of Perrysburg High School. He attended Stautzenberger College and was employed as a technician with Dialysis Corp of America in Bowling Green, Ohio. He married Jacqueline Seiling, in Perrysburg, on July 12, 2003. Mr. Anderson enjoyed spending time with his sons. He was a wrestling coach and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Dorothy Marie (Scheider) Fox, 89, of Perrysburg, died Saturday, June 5, 2010, at St. Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center. She was born in Perrysburg on August 1, 1920, to George and Katherine (Johnson) Scheider. She married Bernard Fox on June 19, 1940. She was a beautician and then worked as a secretary for Owens-Illinois, retiring in 1982. She was a lifelong member of Zoar Lutheran Church, where she volunteered in the office for more than 20 years and was a member of the Esther Circle. She enjoyed sewing, collecting antiques, and playing the piano and organ. She is survived by her daughters, Julie Click of Union City, California, and Randi (Mike) Aring of Bowling Green, and grandchildren, Bryan and Stephen Click and Mitchell and Britni Aring. Melba Jeane (Gallagher) Leatherman, 86, of Perrysburg, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born in Akron, Ohio, to Cecil and Mildred (Good) Gallagher, and was a 1941 graduate of Liberty Center High School. She served during World War II in the United States Marine Corps, and was honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1944. She married Wayne Leatherman on August 6, 1948. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Perrysburg, where she served in many areas including teaching Sunday school, delegate to the annual conference and many district offices. She served on the Flower Hospital Board and the Friendly Center Board. She is survived by her husband, Wayne; daughters, Sue Leatherman M.D., and Kay Howard; sons-inlaw, the Rev. James Donnan and Edwin Howard; grandchildren, Ryan Howard and Katherine and Julia Donnan; brother, Jerry Gallagher; sister, Deanna (Darryl) McDowell, and sister-in-law, Dorothy Gallagher. Thomas “Tom” Rossler, 72, of Ten Sleep, Wyoming, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at the Washakie Medical Center in Worland, Wyoming. He was born March 20, 1938, in Toledo, to Joseph and Ruth (Blatter) Rossler. He attended schools in Rossford, and graduated from Rossford High School in 1956. He earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Toledo and master’s of educational administration degree from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. He married Elouise Germann on July 25, 1970, in Delta, Ohio, and they had two sons. He worked in the law enforcement field as a part-time officer before beginning his career in education. He held a long-time interest in law enforcement and encouraged his sons in that direction. Mr. Rossler was a math and business teacher who began his career as a permanent substitute in Detroit, Michigan. For a number of years, he taught in Ida in Lower Michigan and Delta in northern Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Rossler moved to northern Michigan, where he became a federal project administrator for a Federal Follow Through Program in Lincoln, Michigan. He then became the elementary principal of five schools in the same district. In the thumb area of Michigan, Mr. Rossler became superintendent of schools in the Akron-Fairgrove district. He held superintendencies in East Jordan and North Dickinson-Upper Peninsula schools. He retired from Michigan to work as a superintendent in Crivitz, Wisconsin. Upon retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Rossler moved to Ten Sleep, where they soon became the volunteer managers of the United Methodist Circle J Ranch and Retreat Center located in Ten Sleep Canyon, where Mr. Rossler combined his care for children and his Christian faith to benefit youth at the camp. He was an active father who fished, hunted, boated and camped with his family. He enjoyed traveling the West with his family. He enjoyed family church activities throughout his life, most recently in Ten Sleep and at Circle J Ranch Camp. He enjoyed the camaraderie of the men’s breakfast group in Ten Sleep. Mr. Rossler is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Elouise; sons, Alan (Anna) Rossler of Thermopolis and Ryan (Kami) Rossler of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; granddaughter, Jessa Mae; brother, Tim (Peggy) of White Cloud and his sons, Eric (Jill), and Michael; his mother-in-law, May Germann; brothers-in-law, Arnold and Ronald (Petria) Germann; sister-in-law, Donna (Tom) Germann Edwards; cousins, Dennis Smith and Jim (Lil) Rossler and many other nieces and nephews. He was born in Toledo on May 15, 1924, to Lawrence Spafford and Wilma Cummerow. He was the fourth great-grandson of Major Amos Spafford, the founder of Perrysburg. The tradition of naming the first born son with the middle name of Aurora has not been broken to this day. He married Pauline Falzne on March 17, 1945, in Pensicola, Florida, enjoying almost 50 years of marriage until her death on December 26, 1994. He was a World War II veteran, serving as a Seaman 3rd Class in the U.S. Navy. He was a welder for Midland Ross retiring in 1989. After he retired, he and his wife, Pauline, moved to Arizona. Mr. Spafford is survived by his children, Barb Klett of Russellville, Alaska, Janet (Mike) Stoup of Toledo, David (Mary) Boise of Idaho, Mark (Cheryl) Spafford of Mesa, Arizona, Bob (Beth) Spafford of Apache Junction, Arizona; son-inlaw, Ken Boose of Walbridge; 18 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. His interests included his investment properties. His favorite past time was spending summer weekends on his boat. He enjoyed boating on the Maumee River with his sons. She married Dareld Weber on August 18, 1945, in St. Germain, Wisconsin, and he preceded her in death on May 21, 1998. She worked and retired from Maumee Valley Hospital as an LPN. She was part of a team of nurses who treated firefighters injured in the June 10, 1961, fire on the Anthony Wayne Trail that killed four firefighters and seriously injured 12. For her efforts, she received a proclamation of recognition from the City of Toledo, commending her service and that of her fellow nurses who provided medical care to the burn victims. Ms. Deck was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greater Toledo since March 1938 and served as a deaconess. She also was a member of the Palestine Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star for 65 years, where she served as registrar and flag bearer. An active volunteer, she devoted countless hours of service to those in the greater Toledo area. She was a volunteer nurse during World War II, a volunteer with the American Red Cross, treasurer for the Ladies Auxiliary of the United Transportation Union and was a charter member of Women of Military Services. She is survived by her daughters, Elaine (Clyde) Tressler, Becky (Ron) Visser; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Deck; grandchildren, Randy (Susan) Tressler, Rob (Jeanie) Tressler, Tamii (Ken) Kalvick, Ken Deck III, Kevin Deck, Adam (Dawn Allen) Deck, Brian (Julie) Visser and Shawn Visser; and 12 great-grandchildren. RICHARD DESTATTE Russell Aaron Frautschi, 89, died Friday, May 14, 2010, at Bay Park Hospital. He was born on March 24, 1921, to Walter and Lillian (Robbins) Frautschi, in Perrysburg. He was a 1939 graduate of Rossford High School and received a degree from the University of Toledo. He worked for six months at Willys Overland, before he entered the Army Air Corps on July 29, 1942. In the Corps, he was trained as a radio operator technical sergeant. He was assigned to the Middle Eastern Theater on July 4, 1943, during World War II. On his 14th bombing mission over Breman, Germany, his B-17 was shot down. Injured by flak shrapnel, he bailed out only to be captured by enemy forces. After 20 months as a prisoner of war, he was released on June 3, 1945, as the war concluded. He earned the Purple Heart, Air Medal (with oak leaf cluster, Prisoner of War Medal, European-African- Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and WWII Victory Medal (with combat V). He was a partner of Frautschi Bros. Hardware in Rossford from 1947 to 1989. He married Betty Jane Leck on July 14, 1947. His memberships included Bethlehem Lutheran Church, lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, 381st Bomb Group, Stalag 17B Association, and Wall of Heroes. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Jane Frautschi; daughters, Sandra (Mike) Fitch, Debra (K. James) Lay, Jr.; son, Jack (Pat) Frautschi; grandchildren, Ashley, Chelsea and Cassandra Fitch, K.J. III, Kaitlyn and Kyle Lay and Whitney and Russell Shane Frautschi. Born in Bluffton, Ohio, on October 17, 1962, she attended public schools in Continental, Ohio, before attaining a bachelor of fine arts degree from Bowling Green University, a master in arts administration degree from the University of Akron and an Ed.S in educational administration and supervision from BGSU. At the time of her death, she was pursuing a doctorate degree in educational administration and leadership studies. She was active in the National Association of Gifted Children, the American Educational Research Association, the Educational Leadership Association, the Ohio Association of Gifted Children and the Perrysburg Parents for Gifted Students, where she was elected president in 2009. She was an artist, educator and arts activist. WALTER HAAS LEONARD STEFFAN PHYLLIS HAIGH ANDREW KUNDRATH Billy Lee Parker died Thursday, April 15, 2010. He was born to Lyman Lee and Mildred Parker, in Trilby, Ohio, on February 1, 1928. After graduating from Whitmer High School, he served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1946 to 1948. Upon his discharge, he married Mary Ann. He attended the University of Toledo while working as a carpenter for the Fred W. Entenman Co., embarking on a career in the construction industry that spanned 45 years. After serving as a carpenter foreman and field superintendent, he was appointed vice president in 1953. He became a partner in the general contracting firm when the Entenman Co. became MacKinnon- Parker Inc. in 1967. He served as vice president of field operations for years, becoming president and retiring as major shareholder and chairman of the board in 1993. During his leadership tenure, MacKinnon-Parker, Inc. became one of the largest contractors in Ohio and was responsible for the construction of many noteworthy institutional, industrial and commercial buildings throughout the state, as well as in Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Arkansas and West Virginia. Along with his corporate role, Mr. Parker served on the Regional Association of General Contractors (AGC) Boards, as well as three terms as the president, also a lifetime board member of the National AGC. He also was active with the United Way and many other roles of public service contribution. Fraternally, he was raised a Freemason in 1956, and also belonged to the Zenobia Shrine and the Royal Order of Jesters in the Toledo Court. His hobbies included project design and renovation, and fishing and hunting with his many friends. He and and his wife traveled the world together and shared many vacations in Florida and on Lake Erie. Mr. Parker is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Ann; children, Thomas (Peggy) Parker and Constance (Chris) Kreft; grandchildren, Michael (Abbey) Sachs, William Parker, Meredith Parker, Rachel (Brian) Bell, Sabrina (Greg) Wistain, and Nicholas (Rachael) Kreft, and eight great-grandchildren. Casimer P. “Cas” Przybylowski, 86, of Rossford, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born January 10, 1924, in Depew, New York, to Kazimer and Mary Anna (Glanz) Przybylowski. He married Helen Nekoranec on May 7, 1949, at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church in Rossford. He was a World War II veteran who served his country in the Army Air Force. He worked for Libbey- Owens-Ford Glass Co. for more than 30 years and retired in 1977. Mr. Przybylowski was a 50-year member of the church choir and a 50-year member of VFW Post in Rossford. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and Notre Dame football, and was a voracious reader. He also enjoyed history, gardening and planning trips. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen; daughters, Susan Ulm of Perrysburg, Mary (Dick) Losey of Perrysburg, and Anne (Douglas) Barrientos of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; sons, Daniel (Moira) Przybylowski of Salem, Oregon, and Edward (Caron) Prisby of Jacksonville, Florida; 15 grandchildren; sisters, Angela Adamski and Sofie Witham, both of Rossford; brother, Frank Olszanski, of Sebring, Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gregory C. Leighton, 56 of Perrysburg, died Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at his home. He was born on June 21, 1953, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Neil and Ruth (Chase) Leighton. After being honorably discharged, he attended the University of Dayton, where he received his bachelor of science degree. He received a master of science degree from Ohio State University. Ruth Learned Perse, 90, of Perrysburg, died Monday, March 29, 2010. The daughter of Raymond and Helen (Wells) Learned, she was a graduate of Maumee High School. She married Edward Perse, and he preceded her in death in 1973. Jagos, 91, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. The daughter of Phillip and Mary (Malusek) Valasek, formerly of Vnorovy, Moravia, she was born June 10, 1918, in Toledo. She was married to Joseph Jagos, in Toledo, on November 25, 1939. She was a member of St. Rose Church in Perrysburg. Ms. Jagos is survived by her sister, Bessie Krasula; sister-in-law, Mary Matthews, and many nieces and nephews. John Ingwersen Carr, 93, of Pemberville/Perrysburg died March 23, 2010, at Otterbein Portage Valley in Pemberville, Ohio. He was born October 21, 1916, in Aurora, Illinois, to Jesse and Margaret (Ingerwersen) Carr. He graduated from the University of Illinois, where he served as cartoon editor of the university humor magazine, won more than one all-university pingpong tournament and earned his final Eagle Scout Badge, lifesaving, on May 20, 1938. He married Mary Lease on October 12, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois. He had a lifelong career in advertising. His early jobs in Chicago were followed by 14 years at Owens-Illinois. In 1961, he founded his own advertising agency, which became known as The Company Carr, of which he was president for 24 years. In 1961, he was recognized as Toledo Advertising Man of the Year. He served in the U.S. Navy at age 29 as a radio technician and was elected by his peers as the honor man of the company. During his life he contributed his professional and leadership skills to many organizations and political campaigns. They include: the first school board for the Anthony Wayne Consolidated School District; Friendly Center, Otterbein Portage Valley Retirement Complex, the Toledo Area Drug Abuse Program (The Bridge), Lucas County Chapter of the American Red Cross, Child and Family Services, the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Government, and the Perrysburg Community, conceiving and initiating the “Vision Quest” process, one of whose results was the formation of the Perrysburg Arts Council. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Perrysburg and served on regional Methodist committees. With his daughter, Susan Biddle, he coauthored a history of Friendly Center. A lifelong athlete, he cherished his tennis friends and the trips they shared, and enjoyed competitive track events across the country in Senior Olympics from 1978 to 1990. He treasured his West Aurora High School friends (Class of 1934) and organized reunions and a class newsletter until 2002. Bridge and poker friends also were important to him. She and her late husband Daniel were the owners of the former Frost Top Drive In and Tiny Tee Miniature Golf in Perrysburg. Ms. Miller was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing trips to Florida and North Carolina. She enjoyed spending time with her family. He was born on February 2, 1921, in Toledo, to Edward and Alma (Becker) Leck. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Mr. Leck graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor of arts degree in mechanical engineering. He was employed with Gulf Oil Company for 23 years before going into business for himself as the owner of Graham Equipment. He was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Toledo. He was currently employed as the global carrier relations leader for Owens Corning and was recently on a team that was awarded the OC Board of Directors Cup, which is the highest honor given at Owens Corning for a cross-functional team which uses company resources to deliver extraordinary results for customers, employees and shareholders. Mr. Ulm was an avid golfer, having played at prestigious courses around the country, including Pebble Beach, Augusta National and Torrey Pines. He was a Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Knight, and a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg. He was the past president of the Rotary Clubs in Galesburg, and Fostoria, Ohio, and the Soangethaha Country Club in Galesburg. He was a 1942 graduate of Rossford High School, where he excelled in basketball, football and baseball, and was inducted into RHS Athletic Hall of Fame. After graduation, Mr. Killian served his country in the Marines in the 3rd Marine Division, B Company in Guam and Iwo Jima during World War II. He was awarded two Purple Hearts, and a Silver Star. After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, he married Rose Krasula and worked in the automotive industry in quality control. Mr. Killian was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford, where he enjoyed working the parish festivals, and was a member of the Rossford VFW. He enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, hunting and fishing. He was born in Garden City, Michigan, to William and Dorothy (Kauffman) Corne. He married Kathleen Sugalski on September 19, 1970, in Trenton, Michigan. He enlisted in the Army during Vietnam, however served in Germany. Mr. Corne was a sales representative traveling throughout the United States. He and his wife traveled the state of Michigan and visited lighthouses throughout the Great Lakes region. James Waller Millon, 59, of Perrysburg, died Saturday, February 20, 2010, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born October 18, 1950, in Clarinda, Iowa to Robert and Zella (Waller) Millon. In 1953 the family moved from Iowa to Findlay, Ohio. He attended Findlay High School and graduated in 1968. He was a gifted athlete; played high school and collegiate baseball and was a diver for the high school swim team. He attended the University of Toledo and graduated in 1972. His leadership skills emerged early as during his senior year he became president not only of Theta Chi fraternity but also became the student body president. He graduated from the University of Toledo Law School in 1976. Mr. Millon had a successful career, not only as an attorney, but as an entrepreneur. He began his legal career as an assistant city prosecutor in Maumee, moved to the private sector, and established a successful practice in Maumee with Helen Coe. In 2005, he accepted an offer to become a member of Eastman and Smith, Ltd. He also was a former co-owner of the Penguin Palace in Maumee and the ABC Security company. He married Candace (Candy) Angle on March 26, 1977. He enjoyed golfing, scuba diving, snow skiing, traveling with family and friends, and parties on the deck. He lived life to the fullest. Mr. Millon was a longtime member and past president of the Toledo Country Club, and a member of the club’s 1887 Society. He was a founding member of the Toledo Golf Hall of Fame. Jim also, with Ned Hoffman, helped found the Order of the Elves, a grassroots, private charity that over the last decade has grown to well over 100 members and raised in excess of one hundred thousand dollars on behalf of foster children of northwest Ohio. Last year the Elves gave Christmas gifts to 110 of these children and their foster families. Jim worked tirelessly on behalf of Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Northwest Ohio, the Toledo Golf Hall of Fame and the Order of the Elves, and was proud to be a Junior League of Toledo husband. He is survived by Candy, his wife of 33 years; children, Dayna and John Peter; brother, Al; father, Bob; nephews, Stephen Millon, Matt (Patty) Angle, Michael Angle, Corbin Angle, Tristen Angle, Jacob Vicander; nieces, Tracey Angle and Selina Angle. She was born January 18, 1942, in Temperance, Michigan, to William and Mildred (Cherry) Paepke. She graduated from Bedford High School and attended Stautzenberger College. She worked many years as a secretary at numerous companies in and around the Toledo area. Ms. Kleopfer was a past member of the Toledo Mothers of Twins Club, the Lutheran Women’s Society and was a member of Cedar- Creek Church. She enjoyed travelling, camping, baking and cooking. Cogan, age 71, of Perrysburg, died Friday, February 19, 2010, in her home. She was born March 7, 1938, to Roy and Helen Bullis in Monclova, Ohio. She was employed as a deli clerk with Anderson’s for 10 years. FRANCES SCHEIDER-SCHRAMM ELIZABETH KOZLOWSKI JAMES LOGSTON KAREN REYNOLDS Robert E. Deis, 64, died February 11, 2010, at Toledo Hospice. He was born October 16, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio, to Robert and Louise (Johnson) Deis. He served in the United States Navy. Mr. Deis married Kathy Fiser in Toledo, on November 11, 1972. He was a technical representative for Xerox and retired in 2005. He was a past lecture and an active member at St. Rose Catholic Church for more than 30 years. Mr. Deis was an avid golfer, playing up to six days a week and most recently playing at Pebble Beach Golf Course in California. He enjoyed going to the beach, attending concerts and dancing. Mr. Deis is survived by his children, Scott and Lauren Deis; mother, Louise Deis; sister, Susan (De) Stewart and brother, Michael (Jean) Deis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy, in 2006. Kleeberger, 85, of Perrysburg, died Monday, February 8, 2010, in St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born in Perrysburg, on October 21, 1924, to Frank and Addie (Shipman) Kleeberger. He married Theresa Hauer, in Perrysburg, on June 15, 1946. Mr. Kleeberger was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific theatre, and worked for Champion Spark Plug in various positions before retiring in 1985 as an aviation scheduler. He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed rooting for local amateur and Detroit area professional teams. He enjoyed playing tennis and golf at many local area courts and courses. He repeated his hole-inone feat on the par 3 quarry hole at Tangle Wood Golf Course nearly 25 years apart. He also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors . He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Perrysburg, the Zenobia Shrine, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Jester’s, Perrysburg Phoenix Lodge #123 F&AM, Chapter Council and Commandery, and Perrysburg VFW Post 6170. He is survived by his sons, David (Diane) Kleeberger of Perrysburg, and Kent (Gwen) Kleeberger of Sanibel Island, Florida; granddaughter, Lindsey; great-grandson, Wilson Cooper-Kleeberger; brother, Ralph (Leeann) Kleeberger of Perrysburg, and sister, Adelyn Marshall of Granville, Ohio. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions. Kermit Charles Rudolph, 76, of Perrysburg, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born in Moline, Ohio, on August 23, 1933, to John and Verna (Libbe) Rudolph. He married Nancy Fulks on December 27, 1958. Mr. Rudolph graduated from Lake High School and Bowling Green State University, where he received a degree in business administration. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epislon Fraternity. He served in Japan as an Army officer, where he managed the largest officer’s club in the far East and was a customs officer in Tokyo. Upon discharge, he returned to own and operate the Pemberville Lumber Co., which expanded to the Rudolph Lumber Co. on Conant Street in Maumee. He then became involved in land development. He developed Woodside Terrace, Angola Village, Three Meadows, Oakmont, Western Meadows in Findlay, Manhattan Boulevard, Fort Meigs Shopping Centers and Cedar Business Industrial Park, among others. He was an avid sports fan, especially BGSU football and hockey, and a longtime member of the Falcon Club and President’s Club. He followed games home and away, and often traveled with the teams, where he became close to many players and their parents. While a member of the Browns Backers, he went to the reunion games. Fishing was a favorite past time, and he enjoyed boating on the Maumee River, Lake Erie and Sarasota, Florida waterways, where he had a vacation home. His hobby was working in his yard. In 1974, he hosted a German exchange student for Maumee Rotary. This relationship has continued since then and they always felt a unique bond. A genealogy study indicated that they are related. He enjoyed traveling, and especially enjoyed cruises. He has maintained many friends in Germany and Japan. He served on the Zoning Board of Appeals, and was a 51-year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Maumee, where he was a deacon and elder. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy; sons, Thomas (Kimberly) and Stephen (Susan) Rudolph; grandchildren, Maxwell, Samuel, Gayle, Gretchen and Hans; brothers, John (Mary), Philip; sisters, Mary Oberdick and Helyn (Charles) Kurfess, twin sister Kathleen (Ron) Holzman; sister-in-law, Marilyn, and many nieces and nephews. Robert C. Grolle, 86, of Perrysburg, died Sunday, January 31, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee. He was born in Perrysburg on September 23, 1923, to Carl and Myrtle (Deverna) Grolle. He married Betty Hess, in Perrysburg, on May 1, 1947. Mr. Grolle was a 1941 Perrysburg High School graduate, where he was active in athletics. He then served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a corporal in the Philippines. As a lifetime farmer, he was a member of the Luckey Farmers Grain Association and was a charter and 60-year member of the Wood County Farm Bureau Council. He also worked with North American Van Lines for 20 years. He raised horses and ponies, entering them in various parades and giving rides to school children on field trips to his farm. His hobbies included carpentry, bowling and playing darts through the church. He was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg, where he served as a former trustee and deacon, served on other various committees, and was an original board member of Abundant Life. He is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Lin (Daniel) Pilz of Saline, Michigan, Judy (David) Leybourn of Wolverine Lake, Michigan, William Grolle of Jupiter, Florida; grandchildren, Bryce Pilz, Kyle Pilz, Steve Leybourn and Jay Leybourn; greatgrandsons, Talen and Liam Pilz; sister, Joyce (James) Ryder of Wausau, Wisconsin. Barbara Fredericks Applegate died January 21, 2010, at Arbors at Waterville. She was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Helen Scott and John Fredericks. She lived in the Toledo area since 1954, when she and her husband, Donald Applegate, moved from Santiago, Chile. They were divorced in 1974. Ms. Applegate was the marketing director for Mercy St. Vincent Hospital (formally St. Vincent Medical Center) for 20 years, retiring in 1986 when she founded her own healthcare marketing consulting company, Applegate & Associates. She was active in the social service agencies of Toledo, serving on the board of trustees at various times, of Child and Family Service, Mental Health Board, Crittenton Services, Visiting Nurse, COMPASS, among others. She graduated from Vassar College and completed her early education in Rochester, New York, where her friends still reside. Her post-college employment was with IBM in New York City. Ms. Applegate pursued her hobby of genealogy, serving as a volunteer at the Mormon Family History Center. She traveled in search of her ancestors throughout the country. She leaves a rich history of her family and an abundance of background papers and research in documentation of her work. He graduated from Birmingham (Michigan) High School. He served in the Air Force Reserves while attending Bowling Green State University. Mr. Hanson worked as a draftsman for 50 years in both Michigan and Ohio. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, watching University of Michigan athletic events, being outdoors, fishing, camping and attending the extracurricular activities of his grandchildren. ALICE LIPPINCOTT DAVID MILNE, DDS David H. Wilson Jr., formerly of Perrysburg, died Saturday, January 9, 2010 at his home in Tucson, Arizona. He was born August 11, 1925, to David and Judith (Fairclough) Wilson in St. Louis Missouri. He married Audrey Johnson, a cograduate of Red Bank High School, on March 2, 1946. Mr. Wilson was an Ensign LTJG in the Naval Reserve. He graduated from Cornell University with a BSEE and from New York University with a LLB. He was an intellectual property lawyer at Bell Telephone Laboratories from 1946 to 1956. He joined the law firm of Marshell, Marshell and Yeasting, in Toledo, in 1956, and served in various Toledo intellectual property law firms from 1956 to 1976. He was chief counsel of intellectual property law in the Owens Illinois law department from 1976 until his retirement. He was a member of the Perrysburg Exempted Village School Board from 1961 until 1969, serving as president for two years and as that board’s representative on the original Penta County School Board. His primary recreational interest was sailing. He was commodore of the Perrysburg Boat Club in 1961 and thereafter a member of North Cape Yacht Club and the Catawaba Island Club. He is survived by his wife, Audrey; daughter Audrey Wilson Ives; son, David (Rebecca) Wilson III; grandchildren, Rebecca Wilson, David Wilson IV, Amy Budzynski, Lori McKidden; Elizabeth Wilson, David Wilson and their mother, Coralie Wilson; Joseph Marshell and William Marshell. She was born in Lansing, Michigan. She was the daughter of Dorothy Reed Hart of Perrysburg, and the late Clifford Hart. She was the wife of Kenneth Wells, with whom she shared 19 years of marriage. She was a dental hygienist at the VA Outpatient Clinic in Spring City and a volunteer dental hygienist at Chester County Family Academy Charter School and Smile Chester County, both in West Chester. She was former president of the Hillsdale Elementary PTO and committee chairwoman of Boy Scout Troop 6 and Cub Scout Pack 110, as well as an avid soccer and tennis mom. She was an accomplished pianist and teacher, watercolor painter and enjoyed scrapbooking. JOAN KOSCHINSKI Norman Bruce Mielke Sr. of Perrysburg, died Thursday, January 14, 2010, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born in Toledo, on July 15, 1926, and served in the Pacific as a Navy Seabee during World War II. He married Selma Osten on August 28, 1948. He worked for more than 40 years at the Sun Oil Refinery as a manager of process engineering, retiring in 1985. He was an artist, enjoyed music, and played the French horn in the Navy band. A tenor, he sang in many choirs, and enjoyed doing things for and spending time with family and friends. CASMIR MOCHON Professional educator and high school coach, Timothy William Smith, of Waterville, and formerly of Globe Avenue, Toledo, died Saturday, January 9, 2010, at Hospice in Perrysburg. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 10, 1939, to Bill and Marie (Rankin) Smith. A graduate of Cleveland St. Joseph High School in 1957, Mr. Smith received his bachelor’s and master's degrees from Bowling Green State University, and lived most of his life in the Toledo area. He married Sharon Miles on September 1, 1962, in Sandusky, Ohio. Mr. Smith coached many different sports, but his especially enjoyed basketball and tennis. He earned 300 victories in both sports, respectively. He taught and coached at Sandusky St. Mary’s, Holland- Springfield, Akron St. Vincent, Toledo St. John’s, Millbury Lake and Sylvania Northview during his 33- year career. As a coach, he stressed hard work and teamwork, specializing in the strategy of the game. He was inducted into The Ohio High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame for basketball in 2007, for which he served as past president. After retiring, Coach Smith analyzed as a color commentator for NBC Channel 24, WLQR/1470 AM Radio and for BCSN Cable TV in basketball, tennis and softball. He also enjoyed his family, music, movies, and the human spirit’s will to overcome adversity. He was an active member of Corpus Christi University Parish in Toledo. He was a graduate of Perrysburg High School Class of 1999 and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo. He enjoyed spending time with his three children; swimming with them at the lake, playing at the park and teaching his daughters to play soccer and football. She worked for Owens Illinois as a financial accountant for more than 20 years. Ms. Liebherr was an active member of St. Rose Catholic Church. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed crocheting, doing sodoko puzzles and Ohio State University festivities. She enjoyed these activities with her Jack Russell Terrier, Mitzi. She enjoyed watching her grandson, Connor, play hockey. She always enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
