Area residents enjoy Freedom Celebration at Homecoming Park

Springfield Township hosted the annual Freedom Celebration at Community Homecoming Park on June 29. The event featured family-oriented activities, children’s games and local food trucks. Turnout this year was in the thousands and included visitors from India and Ireland, experiencing their first Independence Day celebration, said Kristina White, event organizer. The trustees expressed appreciation to sponsors, including the 180th Fighter Wing, Springfield Area Prevention Coalition, Springfield High School’s cheer team and Blue Devil radio, Miller Fireworks and Sheetz.
