The Arts Commission has moved to new headquarters

The Arts Commission announces a new chapter with a move that will expand opportunities for artists, strengthen community partnerships and further anchor Toledo’s UpTown neighborhood. As of November 10, the Arts Commission’s offices will be located at 1000 Adams Street.

Since 2000, the commission has been headquartered on the Toledo Museum of Art’s campus in the Professional Building on Parkwood Avenue. The building and institutional support from the museum provided a strong foundation for growth, ultimately positioning the Arts Commission to outgrow the space.

“We’re proud to have provided the footing to help the Arts Commission grow into the exceptional organization it is today and wish their team continued success in fostering a vibrant, connected arts community.” said Adam Levine, Edward Drummond and Florence Scott Libbey president, director, and CEO at Toledo Museum.

The move also deepens the commission’s longstanding partnership with its new neighbors, the Toledo Lucas County Public Library (TLCPL), and allows the commission to contribute to the creative energy of the UpTown neighborhood.

“The Arts Commission plays a pivotal role in our community and we are excited to welcome them to UpTown. I believe they will be a great collaborator and neighbor for all of us.” said Jason Kucsma, executive director of the TLCPL.

The Arts Commission is an important part of the region’s ecosystem, and this new space provides room for growth, enhanced programming and expanded opportunities to serve artists and the community. It will give the commission the ability to host events, exhibitions and other programs that drive the organization’s mission and the creative economy forward.

“We are deeply grateful to the museum for being such an amazing landlord and partner over the past 25 plus years. Their support has been instrumental in helping us grow our organization, programs and services and we look forward to continuing our collaboration into the future.” said Marc Folk, president and CEO of the Arts Commission. “We are equally excited to be part of the vibrant UpTown neighborhood to explore and expand relationships with the library and our other partners who call UpTown home.”

The Arts Commission looks forward to celebrating this next chapter with its partners, artists and the community it serves.

The Arts Commission does not anticipate any interruptions in programming and will retain current phone numbers. Offices will be closed to the public through November 24, except by appointment. Staff will be available via phone and email throughout the transition.
