Blue Devil Athletes of the Week

Brandon Langston & Javon Fletcher-Johnson

Brandon Langston and Javon Fletcher-Johnson are the Springfield High School Athletes of the Week. Both Brandon and Javon had incredible performances recently, most notably in Napoleon at the Northern Lakes League (NLL) championships.

These two athletes contributed to 56 of the Blue Devils’ total 112 team points that helped Springfield capture its first NLL championship in boys track and field since 1976.

Brandon and Javon finished in first and second place in the 100m dash (11.17 and 11.26 seconds), first and second place in the 200m dash (22.51 and 22.59 seconds), and were both members of the 4x100m and 4x200m first place relay teams.

Following their league outing, both athletes had excellent performances at the OHSAA District Championships held at St. Francis de Sales. In the 100m dash, Javon finished in third place (11.14 seconds) and Brandon finished in fourth place (11.16 seconds) which qualified them for the OHSAA Regional Championships in Findlay. Although Brandon was held out of the 4x100m and 4x200m relays at districts, Javon helped both relay teams qualify for regionals. Javon then finished in third place in the 200m dash which qualified him for regionals in this race as well.

Head Track & Field coach Mike Campbell nominated both athletes for their accomplishments this season and for leading their team to an NLL championship for the first time in 46 years.

“Both young men have great sportsmanship and are highly competitive. They push each other to get better and we can’t wait to see what else they accomplish! ” said Coach Campbell.

Congratulations, Brandon and Javon!
