On Saturday, February 17, Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge (Ottawa NWR) will host a chili cookoff. Residents are invited to bring a crockpot of their best chili for a chance to win.
The cookoff is free, family friendly and open to the public. To enter the competition, guests should bring their chili, ready to eat, to the visitor center, 14000 State Route 2, at noon. The judges tasting will begin at 1 p.m. with a public tasting to follow. The event will run from noon to 3 p.m.
Awards will be presented for the judges’ choice, hottest chili, most unique recipe and people’s choice. Donations collected will help fund future projects, events and tours.
