Christ Child Society to host celebrity wait night Nov. 6

Christ Child Society’s (CCS) annual celebrity wait night will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, November 6, at the Pinnacle, 1772 Indian Wood Circle, Maumee.

Proceeds from this year’s event will go toward providing new winter coats, hats and gloves to Toledo-area children in need as well as hygiene kits, books and layettes for newborns.

“Our celebrity wait night is our major fund-raiser,” said Pat Galvin, CCS Toledo president, adding. “Our goal is to raise $75,000.

“The need for coats, hats, and gloves has risen dramatically over the last five years,” she continued. “In 2018, we had requests for 646 coats. This year we have requests for 2,729 coats, and we fully expect that all of those requests will be fulfilled, thanks to our generous supporters.”

Christ Child Society has more than 100 active members in the area who do more than provide coats, books and hygiene kits, explained Mrs. Galvin.

Other programs include tutoring and library services at local schools; parenting classes; “angel” bereavement layettes for infants who have passed; and a Theatre Vision program that allows young children to attend the highly acclaimed children’s theatre program at the Valentine Theatre.

“Christ Child volunteers are able to integrate the theatre experience into the classroom curriculum,” Mrs.

Galvin said.

Waiters at Celebrity Wait Night include Christ Child volunteers and supporters as well as local clergy.

Those wishing to attend can register at christchild societyoftoledo, and select their favorite waiter.
