Community celebrates Nation’s 248th birthday in patriotic style

On June 29, Springfield Township hosted the annual Freedom Celebration at Community Homecoming Park. The event featured familyoriented activities, children’s games and local food trucks. Joining in on the festivities were community partners including the 180th Fighter Wing, Springfield Area Prevention Coalition, Springfield High School cheer team and Sheetz. The Springfield Township Fire Department was on hand to make sure anyone who needed help, received it. A DJ played tunes for a throng of eager dancers, and at dusk the crowd was awed by a fireworks display from Miller Fireworks. This year’s show was synced to patriotic music that could be heard on Blue Devil Radio. Organizers expressed appreciation to the sponsors and partners who help keep the event free to the public.
