At the May 2 meeting, Holland Village Council authorized the purchase of portable radios for the police department.
Councilman Scott Brown explained that the City of Toledo is making a bulk purchase of mobile and portable radios for their police department, and is offering neighboring jurisdictions, including Holland, “piggyback” on the discounted price.
He noted that the police department has budgeted $9,000 this year for radio purchases and believes it would be prudent upon the village to upgrade the radios at the 35 percent discount rate.
Councilman Ryan Spangler concurred, recommending radios for the new vehicle as well.
Council approved the expenditure of $30,350 for the purchase of police mobile and portable radios from Motorola Solutions.
