The Lucas County commissioners are extending a wellness program agreement by three years.
At the May 10 meeting, the commissioners contracted with the University of Toledo college of health and human services department of population health for the program.
The contract runs from June 1, 2022 through May 31, 2025, and will cost $269,438. The amount will be disbursed annually as follows: year one, $89,647; year two, $89,811, and year three, $89,981.
Terms of the agreement call for UT to provide master’s level students in health education, public health or exercise science to assist with basic health promotion and screenings. The students are to be “health promotion coaches” for eligible enrollees, and the program will be overseen by Dr. Joseph Drake, professor and chair of the department of population health.
