Last week, Crissey Elementary took part in “Start with Hello,” an initiative created by the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation. The purpose of this program is to teach empathy and empower students to end social isolation by following three easy steps: 1. See someone alone? 2. Reach out and help. 3. Start with “Hello!” Finding ways to reach out and connect with others is very important. To help have a little fun, we held activities each day to help everyone connect with others in the school. These activities gave the students an opportunity to share more about who they are and learn things they have in common with their classmates.
At Crissey Elementary, our goal is to make sure no student feels alone or socially isolated. We encourage our students to reach out to one another, be kind and understanding, and help to build a place where, just as our doors say, “Everyone is Welcome. Everyone belongs.”
