Springfield’s Mitigation Guidelines Updated
We can’t thank everyone enough for their part in making our pre-kindergarten to 12th grade program work these past several weeks. I continue to feel optimistic that our mitigation efforts have helped manage the virus’s impact on district services and want to share some important reminders and updates:
Masking Protocols
As I announced in December, 2021, the district will continue to require the use of facial coverings/masking through February 18, 2022, the end of the second trimester. At that time, unless a surge in COVID-19 cases demands otherwise, the district intends to move to a policy of optional use of facial coverings/masks at the start of the third trimester, February 24.
Updated Mitigation Guidelines
It was widely reported on January 26, that the Ohio Department of Health has updated its recommendations for school districts. All districts, including Springfield, are no longer expected to perform universal contact tracing for reported cases of COVID-19. Since the requirement for universal contact tracing is no longer in place, Springfield will no longer send email notifications to students who may have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. Specific details were shared with families via Instant Alert on February 1, and are posted on the website. If you have questions about the policy, please contact the Toledo Lucas County Health Department, 419-213-4100, or the nurses in your students’ buildings.
