Dorr Elementary School News

Welcome to the 2022-23 School Year

We are beyond excited to welcome all of our students back to school this year. Dorr Elementary School halls have been busy all summer, as staff have been in and out preparing for an excellent school year. Our amazing teachers have been planning and preparing for a productive school year. Our enthusiastic office staff also has been working hard–from those at the district offices handling the enrollment of our new students to those in the building preparing the school to provide a successful start.

Our custodians have done an amazing job moving teachers’ rooms and making Dorr shine. Leaders of Dorr’s Parent/Teacher Organization also have worked hard during the summer, and all are eager and excited to welcome families and offer exciting programs and events. Each and every member of the Dorr Elementary family should be commended for all of their hard work this summer. The students will benefit greatly from all this hard work that was accomplished on their behalf.

We are very lucky to have a community that supports Dorr Elementary and Springfield Local Schools. Supply Source recently held a back-toschool supply drive and donated many needed supplies to Dorr Elementary. Donations included construction paper, rulers, colored pencils, markers, erasers, Kleenex tissues, crayons, No. 2 pencils, glue sticks, highlighters and much more. We can’t say thank you enough to Supply Source for their gracious donations. Additional donations arrived from area churches such as Calvary, Dwelling Place and Compelled, and businesses like Target, Texas Road House, plus the Springfield Area Prevention Coalition even delivered us items collected through a night at the Mud Hens stadium. We are sure there are other resources, so families needing assistance are asked to share this information during your JumpStart meeting or reach out to our school counselor, Ms. Kalo, at na taliekalo@springfield -schools.org. We are beyond excited to welcome students back to school. A few key dates are listed below. Enjoy your last weekend of summer, and we will see you for JumpStart next week.
