The Springfield Local School District will begin a new elementary backto- school tradition called Springfield JumpStart, August 24 to 29.
The goal is to provide a more personal touch to start the school year. Students in pre-K through grade 5 will have an opportunity to meet with teachers individually before the start of the school year. Teachers will assess students during pre-scheduled 45-minute appointments. Families and students can use this time to get to know the teachers, see their classrooms, tour the building, drop off school supplies and take care of other housekeeping issues, such as updating family contact information and paying fees.
There will be no classes for students in pre-K through grade 5 on those days. Preschool families will be contacted by teachers to schedule appointments. Families with students in grades 1 to 5 should have received an email with a Sign-Up Genius link to schedule an appointment. Those who did not receive an email should check that their PowerSchool contact information is up-todate.
