The Historic Libbey House announces its fall events. The home’s volunteers have been working to improve their guests’ experiences. The wrought iron fence in the front of the home has been repaired and replaced, the sidewalk on Woodruff Avenue has been fixed and the entrance to the driveway has been improved. The team also has done some roof repairs and painting. The gardens have been maintained along with new grass on the lawn.
The Libbey House is hosting several events this fall and invites the public to join in the festivities and experience the beauty of this historic home. There is a full slate of activities.
•Sunday, September 28, is the annual Harvest High Tea. The Libbey House Foundation, along with the Women of the Old West End (WOWE), create a high tea experience for guests. This is an opportunity to bring family and friends together for a special treat. Seatings are at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person, and reservations are required.
•Thursday, October 30– the return of the Libbey Salon Lecture Series will feature a presentation by Tedd Long, Toledo historian and author of the recent book “Table for None, the Lost Eateries of Toledo.” Long will invite visitors to step back in time and savor the stories behind Toledo’s most beloved lost restaurants. Tickets are $10 and seating is limited. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m.
•Saturday, November 1– will be Downton Abbey Themed Murder Mystery night. Participants can immerse themselves in a real-life game of Clue and travel from room to room with a team of fellow detectives in their quest to gather evidence and solve this baffling historic murder mystery. Eat, drink and solve this caper in a fabulous setting. Reservations are required and tickets are $30. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m.
•Thursday, November 6, enjoy the Libbey House’s annual Wine Tasting Evening featuring Jim Sautter, a level one sommelier, of Sautter’s Market. He will provide an informal presentation of five fine wines to enjoy with carefully paired appetizers. The evening begins at 6 p.m. Reservations are required, and the cost is $40. Guests must be 21 years or older to attend.
•Thursday, November 13– second Libbey Salon Lecture will feature Adam Levine, Edward Drummond and Florence Scott Libbey president, director and CEO at the Toledo Museum of Art. Levine will be discussing What’s New at the Toledo Museum of Art as they embark on the museum’s first comprehensive gallery reinstallation in over 40 years. Tickets are $10 and seating is limited. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m.
•Friday and Saturday, November 21 and 22, with The Arts Commission’s Holiday Trunk Show featuring local artists. Be inspired on holiday gift giving in a beautiful setting. Artwork from more than 20 local artists will be available for viewing and purchase at the historic Libbey House. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artists and enjoy beverages, appetizers and the holiday décor of the Libbey House. Visit TheArtsCommission.org for details and tickets. •Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 5 to 7, is the annual Winterfest Weekend experience. On Friday night, the Libbey House will host Christmas cocktails and house tours. This event begins at 6 p.m., and tickets are $25. On Saturday, the decorated home will be open for tours beginning at 11 a.m. The tour is free, but donations are always accepted. On Sunday, a Holiday High Tea with tours will be featured. The seatings are 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Reservations are required, and tickets are $40. Winterfest weekend is a great way to kick off your holiday season.

Proceeds from these events support the restoration of the Libbey House and Women of the Old West End Neighborhood projects.
