Three local airports have been tapped to receive $6,725,171 in improvements as part of a federal improvement program. The Wood County Regional Airport, the Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport, and the Fostoria Metropolitan Airport will all receive upgrades over the next several years.
“Ohio airports are vital infrastructure supporting travel and commerce in our state,” U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown said. “These investments will enhance safety and operations at Northwest Ohio airports and improve travel for Ohio families and businesses.”
The Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration has awarded the investments through the Airport Improvement Program. The projects include $4.8 million to the Wood County Regional Airport to extend runways and taxiways and install new lighting on them, $1.8 million to the Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport for new snow removal equipment, and $152,075 to the Fostoria Metropolitan Airport to reconstruct a terminal.
