On November 30, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine appointed Robert J. Jones Jr., to the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas, Juvenile Division.
He will assume office on December 18, and will take the seat formerly held by Judge Denise Cubbon. He will serve the remainder of the unfinished term and will need to run for election next November should he wish to retain the seat.
Judge Jones has served as a magistrate for the Lucas County Juvenile Court since 2013. Previously, he served as a hearing officer for the Lucas County Child Support Enforcement Agency, general legal counsel for Timberland Square and an assistant prosecutor for the Lucas County Prosecutor's Office.
A 1993 graduate of Ohio State University, he earned his bachelor’s degree in history. In 1997, he earned a juris doctor from the University of Toledo.
In his community, Judge Jones is a local business owner, member of the St. Joseph Sylvania Catholic Church and a member of the Toledo Bar Association.
