Holidays at Manor House opens Saturday

The tradition continues

The 48th Holidays at the Manor House returns Saturday, December 2, at Wildwood Preserve Metropark, 5100 Central Avenue, Toledo. Admission is free, and no reservations are required. The home will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Sunday, December 10.

For the past several weeks, volunteers from the community have been busy transforming more than 30 areas of the 30,000-square-foot Manor House into a holiday wonderland. After touring the home, visitors can walk to Metroparks Hall to view a model train exhibit presented by the Swanton Area Railroad and Model Club. Reservations are not required, but a limited number of people will be allowed inside the building at one time.

In addition, the “s’mores station” returns this year and will be open from noon to 8 p.m., December 2, 3, 9 and 10. After dark, visitors can enjoy outdoor lights on the drive into Wildwood’s main entrance on Central Avenue, and along a walking path beside the Ottawa River, below the home. Above, clockwise from top left: it’s an old fashioned in the kitchen decorated by Cathi Fortney; Jina Felix and Kathleen Shope recognize those close-to-theholiday birthdays with a “Happy Birthday to all those born in December” party; the second floor master suite features “Noël en Provence’ by Alliance Française de Toledo; in keeping with longstanding tradition, this year’s whimsical display in the master suite bathroom urges visitors to have a “Whaley Happy Holiday” as Santa’s sleigh, pulled by whales, delivers presents under the sea to Ariel and her family.
