Registration is open for Summer Spark
Springfield Local Schools’ innovative Summer Spark literacy initiative provides students entering kindergarten through fifth grades with engaging and fun learning experiences– something that can challenge and entertain each student. There is no cost to families for students to attend; however, students must register and be accompanied at each session.
The program provides students with access to books, learning stations and outreach activities. To make it as engaging as possible, Springfield has partnered with several community organizations to provide students and families with a connection to experiences beyond typical classroom walls. Weekly themes will be incorporated into the learning stations and activities. Additionally, students will earn participation points for attendance and reading books at home.
Summer Spark will be held at Crissey Elementary School on Monday, Dorr Elementary School on Tuesday, Holloway Elementary School on Wednesday and Holland Intermediate on Thursday. It will begin at Crissey on June 12 and end at Holland on July 27. The program will not be offered on June 19 or during the week of July 3 to 6. Teachers, special guests and volunteers will be at the schools between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the designated days. Options for lunch will be offered and snacks will be included.
