Holland restaurant under new ownership

Patrons to Cheers at the Orchard Centre plaza in Holland may not notice any difference in the restaurant which continues to provide good food at reasonable prices in a welcoming environment. But there has been a change.

Camden Baumer and his wife Ashly purchased the eatery In March. The décor remains the same as does the menu with just a couple additions, chicken wings and a special bar drink.

Mr. Baumer of Wauseon has managed other restaurants, but this is his first foray as an owner. “I always wanted to own a restaurant, and this is a good location,” he said, adding, “The clientele and employees are awesome, and it is a great atmosphere.”

The couple along with their two children hope to move closer to the restaurant in the near future. “We are building a home in Whitehouse,” Mr. Baumer said, and looks forward to the day when the commute is shorter.

To celebrate, they held a grand opening on July 12, complete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. They were joined by their children Caiden, 8, and Aylah, 3, employees, family and friends.

Kelly Tucker, relationship manager for the Holland Springfield Chamber of Commerce, hosted the ceremony. “We want to welcome you to the neighborhood,” she said and wished them well in the food service business.

Mr. Baumer invites area residents to visit the restaurant and sample the dishes.

Cheers is open Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
