A handful of candidates will appear on the Tuesday, August 2 primary ballot for voters in the Holland-Springfield community to decide upon.
Due to ongoing conflicts in creating new state district maps, the offices of state senator, state representative and members of state central committees did not appear on the May primary ballot.
Polls will be open in Lucas County from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Voters are required to declare a party to participate in this election.
On the Democratic ballot are:
•42nd Ohio House District: Nick Komives of Sherwood Avenue, Toledo, and Erika White of Plumcreek Road, Toledo. The winner of this race in November will face incumbent Republican Derek Merrin of Lakeside Drive, Maumee.
•Democratic State Central Committeewoman for Ohio Senate 11th District: Ms. White is campaigning against Paula Hicks-Hudson of Robinwood Avenue, Toledo.
•Ohio Senate 11th District: Ms. Hicks-Hudson is running unopposed.
•Democratic State Central Committeeman for Ohio Senate 11th District: Michael Friedman of Heatherwood Drive, Toledo, running unopposed.
On the Republican ballot are:
•42nd Ohio House District: Mr. Merrin is running unopposed on the Republican bal lot.
•Ohio Senate 11th District: Tony Dia of Forest Hills Drive, Maumee, is running unopposed.
•Republican State Central Committeeman for Ohio Senate 11th District: Mark Wagoner of Pelham Road, Toledo, faces Timothy Brentlinger of Woodhall Drive, Sylvania.
•Republican State Central Committeewoman for Ohio Senate 11th District: Donna Owens of Tetherwood Drive, Toledo, is challenged by Abigail Brentlinger of Woodhall Drive, Sylvania.
Candidates for central committee in both parties are elected during the primary and do not appear on the November ballot.
Voters who are unsure of their Ohio House or Senate district can use the “Find Your District” map on the Ohio Secretary of State’s website at ohiosos.gov.
The Lucas County Board of Elections and early vote center have moved to 3737 West Sylvania Avenue, near Westfield Franklin Park Mall.
