It’s Never too Early (or Late) to Learn
No matter our ages, I think it’s safe to say that it’s never too early or too late to learn. Sometimes, those lessons aren’t necessarily found in books–and this week, I am pleased to share with readers some important life lessons that students and staff at Holloway Elementary were given recently.
Let me begin with the gift of time we spent with the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs, Claudia and Ezra. All the students at Holloway were able to spend 15 minutes with the dogs–petting, snuggling and learning about the important jobs they perform in the community and around the country. It is of no surprise that dogs can sense our happiness, stress, discomfort, and they can also provide an outlet for those emotions. These furry helpmates listen to our concerns, fears, sorrows; they play and make us laugh, smile and forget the things that bother us, even if for just a few minutes. They also make good pillows when you need a good cry–at least that’s what we all heard about when Claudia and Ezra trotted around the school.
Students and staff fell in love with the dogs (and their handlers), and we all look forward to inviting them back in the spring for another visit.
