Springfield High School capped off another unforgettable Homecoming Week with school spirit, community pride and the crowning of this year’s Homecoming Royalty—King Logan Goodrick and Queen Emma Scheuer—during halftime of Friday night’s home football game.
This year’s festivities carried a powerful theme of togetherness, gratitude and student leadership. The week was filled with decorated hallways, pep rallies, student performances and long-standing traditions that remind the Springfield community what it means to be Springfield Strong—leading with integrity, kindness and character.
“Homecoming Week always brings so much joy to our campus,” said Springfield High School Principal Robb Brown. “It’s one of those times when you can see the pride of our students, staff and families come to life—not just through the events, but in the way people care for one another. That’s what makes this community special.”
A Week of Spirit and Student Leadership Throughout the week, students participated in themed dress-up days, games and pep rallies coordinated by the student government team, led by Mrs. Studebaker. Their creativity shone through videos, hallway designs and activities that united the student body and staff alike.
Homecoming Court members also had the opportunity to reflect publicly on their Springfield journeys, sharing heartfelt speeches about growth, friendship and gratitude. Two seniors in particular—Emma Scheuer and Kyle Mortus—moved the audience with words that embodied the spirit of Springfield.
Scheuer encouraged her peers to choose kindness and inclusion over popularity, sharing how she found confidence and community during her time at Penta Career Center. Mortus closed his remarks with a message about gratitude and perseverance, quoting Michael Josephson: “Take pride in how far you have come. Have faith in how far you can go. But don’t forget to enjoy the journey.”
“These speeches were powerful reminders that high school isn’t just about academics—it’s about growing into the kind of person who makes others feel seen,” said Principal Brown. “That message will stay with our students long after graduation.”

Community Thanks and Collaboration
The success of Homecoming Week was made possible by the efforts of many dedicated staff and volunteers.
Special thanks to Mrs. Carrie Wcislek and the Homecoming Committee for coordinating the week’s events and ensuring every detail—from the parade lineup to the halftime pageantry—ran seamlessly. The Springfield Blue Devil Marching Band and Saber Guard once again delivered a spectacular halftime performance that set the perfect stage for the crowning ceremony.
Behind the scenes, Athletic Director Andrew Screptock worked tirelessly to organize game logistics, the dance and event safety measures. “Without Mr. Screptock’s leadership, these large-scale events simply wouldn’t happen,” Brown added. “He and his team go above and beyond to make sure our kids have the best experience possible.”
A Celebration of Spirit Homecoming concluded with a well-attended dance filled with energy, laughter and hundreds of snapshots that will soon become cherished high school memories. “Other than a few sore feet and a lot of spilled drinks,” Brown joked, “everything went off without a hitch— and everyone made it home safely.”
From the band to the Booster Club volunteers, parents, staff and students, this year’s Homecoming reflected what Springfield is all about: community, character and shared pride in being Blue Devils.
