The Toledo Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating a six-vehicle injury crash that occurred May 21 on I-475 near milepost 8 in Springfield Township.
According to the patrol, a vehicle driven by Kevin Herman, 54, Milton Center, was traveling north on the interstate when he failed to maintain assured clear distance ahead and struck a car, operated by Gabriella Pool, 22, of Toledo.
The impact pushed Pool’s vehicle forward into a car, operated by Michelle Hill, 35, of Toledo.
Hill’s car then struck the vehicle in front of her, which was operated by Mark Rust, 48, of Holland. The chain reaction resulted in Hill striking a car driven by Amanda Wozniak, 37, of Perrysburg.
After the initial crash a Volvo semi-truck operated by Gurjot Sandhu, 29, of Ontario, Canada failed to maintain assured clear distance ahead and struck Herman’s car, which struck the vehicle in front of him driven by Hill.
I-475 was closed for an extended period of time due to disabled vehicles and debris in the roadway.
The highway patrol was assisted at the scene by Lucas County sheriff’s office, Springfield Township Fire and EMS and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
