Local agriculture to be celebrated July 20 in Holland, with inaugural Farm Connection event

The Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District (Lucas SWCD), Lucas County auditor’s office and several local agencies and institutions, invite the public to the inaugural Lucas County Farm Connection.

Set for Saturday, July 20, at MacQueen Orchards, Holland, the family-friendly event will welcome and bring together both the agricultural and non-agricultural communities to learn, play and inspire forward progress for food production in Lucas County.

The free event will feature a main-stage speaker series, children’s area, food trucks, tour of MacQueen Orchards and a business and agency expo.

Emphasizing the importance of “home grown” food and grain produced in the county, organizers hope that attendees will learn about local farming, and all that it entails, in both rural and urban settings.

Registration is required. The Lucas County Farm Connection is supported by the following agencies and institutions: Lucas SWCD, Lucas County auditor’s office, Lucas County farm bureau, Ohio State University Extension–Lucas County, Toledo GROWs, Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful, City of Toledo division of environmental services, Lucas County engineer’s office, Lourdes University and the Lucas County Agricultural Society. Local sponsors include the Andersons, Inc., and Toledo City Paper.
