Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District (Lucas SWCD) will sell locallygrown native plants at its office, 3350 Hill Avenue, Suite K, Toledo, on Friday, May 16, between 3 and 6 p.m.
The sale also offers items like rain barrels, composting kits, garden signs, soil test kits and more.
The event is free, held rain or shine and open to everyone. Supplies are limited and there will be no sales prior to 3 p.m.
There will be other partner agencies’ information tables and food trucks.
New items for this year’s sale include native pollinator garden kits as well as the ability to pick-up pre-ordered garden compost from GoZERO.
A “native” plant is a specific species that has grown naturally in this area for many years and is accustomed to the local climate, soils and precipitation. In addition, local wildlife is dependent upon native plants that they have coexisted with for many, many years. Adding native plants to the landscape is one way residents can help the environment.
