The Maumee Senior Center will host Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 6, at 2430 South Detroit Avenue, Maumee, from 9 a.m. to noon.
“Breakfast with Santa at the Maumee Senior Center is an annual tradition for many families in the community. We have new families participating every year, along with multiple generations of grandparents, parents and children,” said Malinda Ruble, executive director of the center.
Registration is $7 for children under 12 and $9 for anyone 12 and older. Breakfast includes, sausage, pancakes with a topping bar, juice, milk or coffee. New this year will be gluten-free and vegan meal options.
“We know there are many individuals and families who avoid gluten and animal products. We have offered glutenfree pancakes for the last several years, but this year we are incorporating a vegan option also. We want our event to be accommodating for everyone’s dietary preferences,” said Ruble.
In addition to breakfast, families can take home a printed photo with Santa and a handmade stocking stuffed with goodies.
“This event is so much more than just breakfast,” said Ruble. “Children will be able to play games, color, decorate cookies and make reindeer food. And of course, Santa will be available to listen to Christmas wishes.”
“Although Breakfast with Santa is a fundraising event for the Maumee Senior Center’s activities and services for seniors, we are encouraging everyone attending to Stuff the Stocking for Seniors by bringing donated canned goods and non-perishable items to the event,” she said.
Stuff the Stocking for Seniors will run through December 19. Visitors can drop off non-perishable items or financial donations to the center Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Donations will be available for any area senior to pick up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., while supplies last, Tuesday, December 23 at the senior center.
