ODOT to hold public open house for proposed I-475 project updates

The Ohio Department of Transportation will host a public open house to share updates and hear from the public about a proposed project to improve I-475 on the north side of Toledo.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, November 12, from 2 to 7 p.m., at Epworth United Methodist Church, 4855 West Central Avenue.

Alternative Evaluation Reports (AERs) for proposed alternatives at I-475 and Corey and Secor roads interchanges, along with the recommended preferred alternatives for the project will be available for public review.

The public may come at any point during the open house as no formal presentation will be given. Representatives of ODOT and its consulting partners on the project, Mannik and Smith Group, and TranSystems, will be present to answer questions and invite the public to view project displays.

The proposed project was initiated to address safety concerns and improve traffic flow on four and a half miles of I-475 between U.S. 23 and Douglas Road, by widening to three lanes and adding auxiliary lanes between some ramps to reduce conflict merge points. Speed limits in the corridor would not be raised after construction.

In response to public feedback from earlier stages of the project, ODOT remains committed to prioritizing the minimization of property impacts and avoiding the need for full residential acquisitions.

Comments are requested by Sunday, December 15, to be included in official project documentation. Comments outside of the official comment period will continue to be considered.

Individuals who require interpretation services or a reasonable accommodation to attend the meeting or provide comments are asked to contact ODOT at 419-373-4377. Public participation in this project is solicited without regard to race, color, sex, age, national origin or disability.
