Ohio’s sales tax holiday will run for 10 days this year, from July 30 to August 8, 2024. This will be the largest and longest sales tax holiday in the state’s history and includes more eligible purchases for customers. The National Federation of Independent Business encourages consumers to shop local during this time and support small businesses.
“The upcoming sales tax holiday is a great opportunity for people to shop at local small businesses and invest in their local economy,” said Chris Ferruso, NFIB Ohio State Director. “Small businesses throughout the state continue to face historic inflation and economic setbacks. By shopping small, small businesses will get a muchneeded boost while customers save money.”
Small businessowners consistently rank inflation as their top business problem, according to recent NFIB research.
The only tangible items that do not qualify under the sales tax holiday are watercraft and other titled motor vehicles, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, vaporizers and other vapor products, and items that contain marijuana. All other physical goods that cost less than $500 are eligible for the holiday.
