‘Over the Edge for Victory’ event set for September

The Victory Center, an organization that provides wellness services to cancer patients and their families, has set the date and plans for their seventh annual fundraising event, “Over the Edge for Victory,” presented by ThermaTru. The event will begin on Thursday, September 7, where individuals will be able to meet various attendees who plan to rappel down the side of the 16-story skyscraper at 300 Madison Avenue.

There will be a VIP launch party that evening, where a select few VIP climbers will be able to rappel down the building at night, before the main event.

The actual rappelling will take place on Friday, September 8, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with over 70 “Edgers” planning to participate throughout the day. There also will be a new facet of the event called the “VictoryClimb,” where 15 participants will use a rope-walker system to ascend the same skyscraper.

“On this adrenaline-fueled day, participants will conquer their fears, step outside their comfort zones, and descend from great heights in a display of unwavering commitment to supporting families facing cancer,” says Dianne Barndt, executive director of the Victory Center. “By pushing the boundaries and taking fund-raising to new heights, we aim to inspire our community and make a lasting impact in the lives of families affected by cancer.”

Registration is open now for participants to rappel individually or create teams. In order to rappel, individuals must raise a minimum of $1,000, while climbing requires the individual to raise at least $1,250.
