The Swanton Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.
The crash occurred July 20 at 10:43 p.m. on the Ohio Turnpike near I-475 in Springfield Township.
According to the highway patrol, Matthew Savord, 30, of Toledo was struck by an eastbound vehicle while attempting to walk across the turnpike.
Ashley Hartford, 40, Toledo, was traveling eastbound on the Ohio Turnpike when she struck Savord who succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The highway patrol was assisted on scene by the Springfield Township Fire Department, Springfield Township EMS, Lucas County coroner’s office and Bubba’s Towing and Recovery LLC.
The crash remains under investigation.
