Penta Board of Education Approves Administrator Changes

During the Penta Career Center Board of Education meeting on February 19, the board approved the following administrator changes.

Ryan Lee, current director of career-technical education, will become the assistant superintendent as of March 31. Lee replaces Mark Pogliano, Ed.D. who resigned on January 24 to take a new position at a school district in Michigan.

Tonya Kessinger, current assistant director for career instruction, will replace Ryan Lee and become the director of career-technical education as of March 31.

“Both Ryan and Tonya have demonstrated strong leadership skills in their previous positions at Penta and through other districts,” said Edward Ewers, superintendent of Penta Career Center. “We know that their wealth of experience in career-technical education will benefit Penta as we prepare for the future.”

Lee, who has worked in education for 25 years, has served as director of careertechnical education at Penta for five years. He began his career at Penta in 2008 when he was hired as a career-technical instructor. He also served in supervisory roles before becoming director. Lee is a 1999 alumnus of Bowling Green State University, where he received his bachelor of science degree in education. He also has earned both a master of education degree and his superintendent licensure through BGSU. His salary will be $135,328.

Kessinger has over 14 years of administrative experience in education. Prior to working at Penta, she was a career-technical education director at Toledo Public Schools. She also worked as a career-technical instructor for TPS. Kessinger has a bachelor’s degree in health education 1-12; a master's degree in curriculum; and completed coursework in educational leadership to obtain her principal’s license—all from the University of Toledo. She is currently working on obtaining her superintendent’s license through BGSU. Kessinger’s salary will be $131,462.
