Lucas County Engineer Mike Pniewski has been elected as a regional governor to represent the state of Ohio on the region 3 board of governors for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
Region 3 includes local sections and branches of ASCE within Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Dakota.

“I am honored to have been elected to represent Ohio by my peers to this regional leadership position in ASCE,” he said.
“It is the oldest engineering society and a leader in the industry, and I am honored to continue its mission to advance the public interest and civil engineering and provide value and service to its members and the profession.”
As a professional engineer and professional surveyor with more than 24 years of experience, he has used his technical expertise and career knowledge to lead private development and public works projects in northwest Ohio and throughout the nation.
He joined the Lucas County Engineer’s office in 2017. Appointed county engineer in January 2020 and subsequently elected to a full four-year term in November 2020, Mr. Pniewski has overseen the completion and opening of the Dorr Street interchange and spearheaded proactive projects like the restoration of Ten Mile Creek.
Founded in 1852, ASCE is the nation’s oldest engineering society.
