Rain barrel workshop to be offered on Aug. 9

The Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District (LSWCD), as a part of the Toledo/Lucas County rain garden initiative, is offering community members an opportunity to make a rain barrel on Wednesday, August 9, at the LSWCD office, 3350 Hill Avenue, Suite K, Toledo.

To register, visit Lucas SWCD.org/rbworkshop or call 419-893-1966. The cost is $40 each, and this includes the barrel and required hardware and materials.

There are two time-slots for participants to register– one starting at 4:30 p.m., and the other at 5:30 p.m.

During the 45-minute session, participants will learn about and make their rain barrel. They are an easy and efficient way to manage storm water, while also saving money and resources.

Each barrel has a 55-gallon capacity and is intended to be installed underneath a downspout from a roof.

Completed rain barrels also can be purchased from the Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District for $52 plus tax. The LSWCD advises anyone interested in purchasing one to contact the office for current inventory as barrels are made to order.

Real estate transfers received for July 17 to 20, 2023.
