Sheetz convenience store and gas station held its grand opening on September 30. Hosted by the Holland Springfield Chamber of Commerce, the event featured comments from township officials, a proclamation by the town crier and a visit by members of the Sheetz family.
As part of the grand opening, Sheetz presented checks to area organizations including the food bank and Special Olympics.
Jacob Barnes, Springfield township planning director, explained the importance of the project to the township, noting it is the first new development in the Dorr Street interchange area.
This is the second Sheetz store to open in the area. The first one in Maumee opened several weeks ago.

Sheetz, 6633 Dorr Street, is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition to gas pumps, the store offers a sit down eatery, soda fountain and grab-and-go items.
Sheetz was founded in 1952 by Bob Sheetz in his hometown of Altoona, Pennsylvania. In 1969, his brother Steve began expanding the business to other locations. In just three years, they grew from one to 14 stores and in 1983, hit the 100-store landmark.
Today, Sheetz spans multiple states and its footprint continues to expand. The company is committed to serving patrons with quality, convenience and affordability.
