On May 13, the Springfield High School JROTC held is annual awards ceremony. Awards presented were:
•C/CSM presents Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.5 or higher GPA– Grace Brenner, Shelby Salatin, Gabe Moore, Ensley Finn, Logan Caudill, Grant Dery, Cody Lowe and Lily Kurasz.
•C/CSM presents Academic Achievement Awardsfor maintaining a 3.0 or higher GPA–Haley Freshour, Savannah Lindstrom, Brayden Carter, Leandra Ferguson, Evens Kurz, Marquees Conner and Gavin Ruiz.
•1SG presents Senior Army Instructor Awards for recognition for upholding the seven Army values of duty, loyalty, selfless service, respect, honor, integrity and personal courage–Logan Mack, Joseph Konczal, Khaled Alajrab, Nedal Alajrab, Sean Jordan, Drake Myers, Lily Kurasz, Anthony Kidd, John Douglas, Patrick Kovach, Jesse Monroe, Aiden Warner and Griffin Orzechowski.
SFC presents JROTC Cadre Leadership Award for outstanding leadership in a leadership role–Kara Sansel, Evens Kurz, Krysta Wilczynski, Sarah Christopher, Cody Lowe, Gabe Moore and Leandra Ferguson.
1SG presents Superior Cadet Award for those who have shown leadership beyond what’s required– Grant Dery, Grace Brenner, Haley Freshour, Rhone Lay and Shelby Salatin.
Several JROTC seniors also received awards from other organizations. They are:
•Daughters of the American Revolution–Shelby Salatin;
•AMVET Award–Grace Brenner;
•Ev Harris Award–Grace Brenner;
•Booster scholarship– Grace Brenner, $500, and Logan Caudill, $250, and
•Commanders Saber –Cody Lowe
Several cadets were promoted to private first class during the event. They are Aidan Schultz, Drake Myers, Sean Jordan, Braden Carter, Gavin Ruiz and Cooper Jackson.
