Soil and Water Conservation District upcoming events

The Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District (Lucas SWCD) will host the following events in the upcoming months.

On Tuesday, September 24, Don Schooner of Inspired by Nature will talk to new and existing pond owners at the annual fall pond clinic. He will discuss all-natural pond management solutions for common issues owners face including water quality, muck and more.

The clinic is free to attend and will be held at Olander Park, Sylvania, starting at 6 p.m.

On Thursday, October 3, the district will offer a vermicomposting 101 class at the office, 3350 Hill Avenue, Suite K, Toledo, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Registered participants will learn about composting and using worms. They will receive a vermicomposting tub and starter pack of worms to take home. The class is $50 per participant and space is limited.

Register online at Lucas SWCD.org/vermicompost ing. The public is invited to the 60th annual meeting to honor the past, celebrate the present and look forward to the future of the district.

The evening includes a catered meal, entertainment, door prizes and more.

It is set for Wednesday, November 13, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Toledo Botanical Garden, 5403 Elmer Drive, Toledo.

Tickets are $20 each and are available for purchase at LucasSWCD.org/annualmeeting, or at the office.
