Traditions are a neat thing, especially when they grow and become a solid part of what we do. Traditions are looked forward to, remembered and talked about. This year, we’re trying to start a new tradition that I think will meet those criteria. One of the things that occurred over the break was our Hall of Fame class induction for 2024. The Hall of Fame, of course, is a tradition, but this year Mr. Screptock added to the program by creating a special luncheon for the inductees, families and community members to enjoy. This new adventure into bringing the group together for a luncheon was something very special as the stories that were shared brought a smile to my heart and lots of memories of students from the past.
This year’s Hall of Fame class was so much fun to sit and see the families again. Yes, I’ve been here long enough to know students who have graduated and gone on to become mothers, fathers, community leaders, etc., and anytime I get a chance to talk to them and see some old faces, it’s so much fun for me. On this day, I got to celebrate with some special alumni Blue Devils and I really enjoyed seeing how successful they all have become and what they’ve done in this wonderful world. This class was special in many ways, but one common factor in all of our awardees was the impact that they have on their local communities–911 operators, executive directors, nurse practitioners, engineers, coaches and, of course, moms and dads. In this class, there are so many things to celebrate that I don’t know where to begin and I really don’t have the ability to share all the information. So, I’d like to encourage you to take a few minutes and go to https://drive.google.com/file /d/1NSVxcGT96ncGrhc GoLGlF8NxzRTThljl/view which has the bio for all these amazing Springfield graduates or employees. I was so impressed by the speeches they gave and how they talked about teachers, coaches and other people in the buildings that made Springfield such a special place and gave them a foundation to thrive.
Great job to Mr. Screptock and Mrs. Koback for such a great organized event. I look for this to grow and be one of those great Springfield traditions that I hope I get to be a part of for years to come.
