Blue Devils’ Update
We continue to make our way as a community through the pandemic. The changes, adaptations and all of the collaboration that have taken place are truly amazing. Thank you all, for the continued effort in making the most out of a difficult situation. Following are some updates to go along with the return to school and upcoming events.
Return to Full Time
As we look to return to full time on Tuesday, April 6, we will go with the following updates.
Start time: 7:40 a.m., doors open at 7:15. We will continue with the current start time and schedule through April, and will consider any changes for May.
Dismissal: 2:25 p.m. for freshmen, sophomores and bus riders; 2:30 p.m. for juniors and seniors.
Drop off/pick up: Please have all drop off and pick up at the front of the high school.
Shown is a map to best access the building.
Student parking: All students who drive will return to parking in the student lot. We are asking our drivers to try and arrive between 7:25 and 7:35 to allow the middle school traffic to clear. Once in the building, the expectation is that students should go directly to class.
Lockers are available if needed. Students are able to continue to carry backpacks to class. (Class exchange will remain at four minutes)
Lunches will continue to be assigned seating. We will continue with bag lunches for the time being. No deliveries of lunches are permitted and students continue to have access to a free lunch.
Attendance: Attendance will return to daily in class attendance. Students are expected to attend every day starting on April 6.
What to bring: Students should bring their Chromebook charged and ready to go each day. They also are allowed to carry a backpack with them. Students should bring paper and a notebook along with writing utensils. We suggest a drawstring backpack for ease of moving in the classes. Refillable water bottles are preferred as drinking fountains remain closed but bottle filling stations are available.
Traffic Patterns
As we return to school full time, traffic will pick up. We need everyone’s assistance in accessing the front of the Springfield High School for drop off and pick up. Please see the green arrows on the map and access the building only eastbound on Hall Street with a right turn and southbound on McCord with a right turn at the center cut of SHS. There is no left turn from Hall Street into the lot during peak times of the day, because of the danger of backing traffic into the roundabout. Also, do not drop off in the street.
UToledo CCP Information Night
We are pleased to announce UToledo, in partnership with Bowling Green State University and Owens Community College will be hosting a virtual College Credit Plus Information night. The virtual event will take place on Wednesday, March 31, from 6 to 7 p.m., using Zoom, and we are asking counselors to reach out to any parents or students who may still be interested in CCP. This would be a great, new opportunity for students and parents who still have questions or would like more information about the college aspect of College Credit Plus. Please go to utoledo.elluciancrmrecruit.com/apply/Events/Event Details?eventId=e56ed01 c-4780-eb11-a97e-f145497 dc476 for students/parents to sign up. Once the information is filled out and the form submitted, participants will receive a confirmation email containing the Zoom link.
If students and parents have any questions or did not receive the Zoom link, contact Mathew Will at dual credit@utoledo.edu or 419-530-4200.
