Springfield High School News

Springfield High School remains committed to keeping everyone–families, students, the community–well informed about important efforts. Although our families are aware, community members may not know that all high school juniors are now required to participate in ACT testing. What follows is our 2023 ACT Test Prep/Administration Plan: ACT Test Dates–All SHS Juniors–March 14, 2023 Ohio State law requires districts and community schools to administer the state-funded ACT or SAT to all 11th grade students/high school juniors during the spring of the school year. Details about the ACT: Please avoid scheduling appointments, etc. on this day that prevent student on-time arrival/attendance. Attendance on this date is critical for students to have the opportunity to take the ACT free of charge The ACT will be given during the school day. Students will be called to their testing location at 8:10 a.m., and testing will begin promptly at 8:15 a.m. (locations will be shared closer to testing).

ACT has very strict rules and late entrance into a testing room is not permitted. If a two-hour delay occurs on this day, students will still test, but testing will begin at 10:15 a.m. For best performance, students are reminded to have a healthy breakfast. When students finish the test, they will report back to their normal afternoon schedule.

ACT Regulations

The ACT has very strict regulations that Springfield High School must follow.

Juniors will have an information session with Mrs. Steinmiller, to review important ACT information through a video and other forms of communication. Students must bring an ID with them to the school and have it ready once they enter the testing room. This does include their school ID. Students should not have any electronic device with them during the test. Students may lock devices in their car. If a student fails to follow guidance and a device goes off, the ACT requires that the test be voided.

AEI ACT Prep Sessions In late January, we began offering ACT prep support during their AEI time. If you are interested in attending one or more ACT prep sessions, sign up at forms.gle/5mMg BmxLwZxZPsyD7. Students are offered limited (first 25 students) weekly support in one, two or all three ACT testing areas (math, English, or science), however, a waiting list will be created. This will occur one day per week, per subject (for example English may meet on Mondays, math on Wednesdays, and science on Fridays) starting the week of January 15 through the week of March 5, from 10:22 to 10:57 a.m. (during the AEI period).
