“Pardon our dust” is an expression heard often when cool new things are happening. We are excited to use that phrase as Springfield High School is adding some needed upgrades and cool things for our students. As things come together, students will enjoy many new pieces, but we are not quite there yet and we will need to make a slight pivot to ensure we can complete the set up of the kitchen and be ready to feed the mass of hungry teens.
With that said, SHS only, made a slight change to the opening few days.
Our ninth grade orientation day, August 23, remained intact and we looked to bring in an outside food choice for the day. However, the senior activities that were planned have been rescheduled for later in the year.
August 24 and 25 ended up being half days for all students. We staggered the class periods so that teachers and students had enough time to begin activities, but CCP students only needed to report to the dates of their high school class.
The change in the schedule gave us an opportunity to ensure that the kitchen is ready to feed students and still give parents as much notice as possible.
Springfield High School Open House The SHS open house will be on Wednesday, September 6, 6:30 p.m. Mark your calendars. Come in and meet the fall trimester teachers and get to know them.
Online Forms
Please be sure to go into your powerschool account and update all forms for this school year.
Parking Permits
Don’t forget, if you plan on driving to school you will need a parking permit. Bring $20 to the main office and fill out the parking permit form with Mrs. Welch to get your permit.
Free and Reduced Lunch Forms
During the last school year, children and families benefited from no-cost school meals for all students, made possible by special permission from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Unfortunately, these permissions have expired. Springfield Local Schools and the Ohio Department of Education cannot extend the permissions for no-cost meals for all students. School meals will still be available to all students; however, they will not be free to all students.
Households may apply for free or reduced-price meal benefits. Applications are available at the school website, and you can complete an online application on EZMealapp.
Eligibility for free and reduced- price lunch is based on federal income guidelines or participation in other programs such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Ohio Works First. For additional information concerning the National School Lunch Program, please see the U.S. Department of Agriculture school lunch question and answer webpage.
