Congratulations to our Springfield Middle School band and choir students who performed at the Ohio Music Education Association Solo and Ensemble Contest in Defiance, on April 1. The solo and ensemble contest is open to our seventh and eighth grade students who are interested in performing in a solo, duet, trio or mixed ensemble with their peers. They practiced their pieces for months before performing it in front of music judges who specialize in their instrument or voice. These students received individualized feedback from the judges and were able to receive a superior rating (I highest rating), excellent rating (II) or good (III). It’s a great opportunity to experience and we are so proud of their accomplishments.
Performing a band solo, we had Myah Rappoport, flute, superior rating; Brayden Root, trombone, superior rating; Kaitlyn Stebbins, bass clarinet, excellent rating; Anderson Wade, snare drum, excellent rating, and Kalia Wilson, flute, superior rating. Performing in a band duet, we had Kenzie Cox and Jahonnah Felder, clarinet duet, superior rating; Ian Thomas and Allison Altstaetter, percussion mallet duet, superior rating, and Mason Amick and Nikyah Reitmeier, flute and alto saxophone duet, superior rating.
Performing a choir solo, were Ian Thomas, baritone, superior rating; Adelaide Evans, soprano, superior rating, and Marciano Magana, baritone, excellent rating. Performing in a choir trio were Rachel Falade, Amelia Werner and Gloria Trowbridge, superior rating, and in a choir quartet were Allison Altstaetter, Gabi Polker, Adelaide Evans and Adria Spears, superior rating.
We are very proud of our musicians and all they have accomplished at the solo and ensemble contest. Congratulations to all.
