Strongman Champions League kicks off USA debut in Toledo

The world’s strongest league is making its debut in the United States as the Strongman Champions League (SCL) launches the first-ever league event for SCL USA in Toledo, on Friday, September 19. The international competition continues the following day in nearby Sandusky. Don’t miss displays of strength and unbelievable action as the strongest athletes descend on Toledo and Sandusky. Admission is free for both days of events.

Day one in Toledo will feature festivities and competition preview held outdoors near Maumee Bay Brewing Co. and the Ohio Plate Glass building, the future home of Foundation Steel and Mosser Construction’s Toledo operations. Over a dozen top SCL athletes will take on a medley of challenges, including steel beam flips, sledgehammer demolition and more. Food trucks, vendor booths and opportunities to meet and see the athletes up close will round out the evening.

“We’re full steam ahead preparing and very excited to bring SCL to the U.S. for the first time ever,” said Ilya Khazov, SCL competitor and promoter, Guinness World Record holder, and Strongest Man in Cyprus. “We have champions from all over the world ready to compete and put on something incredible for Toledo and Sandusky. This is going to be a fantastic event with some unique elements that are being made possible through great partnerships in northwest Ohio.”

Day two will include the main day of competition and an accompanying festival that will take place on Saturday, September 20, in downtown Sandusky on Shoreline Drive.

The Strongman Champions League is an elite global competition series featuring 16 stages hosted in locations across the world. The league brings together the strongest athletes, renowned referees and expert organizers to create one of the most compelling spectacles in strength sports. Each competition is set against a dynamic backdrop that reflects the cultural and traditional elements of its host country.

The league has showcased international strength and high-level competition for 17 seasons in its namesake docuseries, now streaming on Amazon Prime, Peacock and other platforms.
