Suicide prevention breakfast set for Sept. 8

HOOVES, which stands for Healing of Our Veterans Equine Services, is hosting their “Sunrise Breakfast for Suicide Prevention” on Sunday, September 8, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Maumee Bay Lodge and Conference Center in Oregon.

The event is held in recognition of National Suicide Prevention Month and HOOVES aims to bring the community together to raise awareness about suicide prevention, particularly among veterans and first responders.

A buffet and beverages will give attendees the opportunity to connect with others who are passionate about mental health advocacy and suicide prevention.

In addition to the breakfast, the event will feature keynote speakers Nicola Licata and Brian Brase, both parents who have lost their children to suicide and Breathwork specialist Angie Corigan will lead a breathwork session to teach nervous system regulation.

Information on local mental health resources and support services will be available for attendees.

The event is sponsored by the Lucas County Veteran Service Commission and provided at no-cost. However, RSVP is required and can be done at hooves.us.
