On Sunday, November 9, the Sylvania Community Orchestra will present a free community concert at 4 p.m., at Lourdes University’s Franciscan Center. The SCO’s ESSence and Remembrance program will feature composers such as Schubert, Saint Saens and Satie in the continuation of the SCO’s “alphabet series.” The orchestra will pay tribute to veterans through the observance of Veterans Day and in honoring the anniversary of Kristallnacht in the spirit of International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Through partnerships with youth orchestras, the young artists solo competition and multi-generational rehearsals, they strive to enrich the cultural life of the community and foster a lifetime of musical creativity for instrumentalists of all ages and levels of expertise.
This concert is sponsored by: UBS, Better Business Bureau of Toledo, Lourdes University, the Ohio Arts Council, the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo, the City of Toledo, Lucas County and Lock-It-Up Storage.
The event is free, but donations are welcomed at the door to support the SCO’s work in the community.
The Franciscan Center at Lourdes University is at 6832 Convent Boulevard, Sylvania.
