The Toledo Repertoire Theatre kicks off its 93rd season with Stephen Schwartz and Roger O. Hirson’s Tony Award-winning musical “Pippin,” running September 12 to 21. Performances will be held Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., with matinees on Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at toledorep.org.
Directed and choreographed by Michael Kidney, with musical direction by Thomas Johnston, “Pippin” tells the story of a young prince searching for meaning, purpose and fulfillment. With a score by Stephen Schwartz, choreography inspired by Bob Fosse and numbers like “Magic to Do” and “Corner of the Sky,” it continues to captivate audiences.
The Toledo Rep’s cast features Tyson Hughes as Pippin, Zarael Nurruddin as the leading player, Andrea Schreiner as Catherine, Michael Searle as Charles, Dawn Kingman as Fastrada, Sally Hart Goodman as Berthe, Jacob Smith as Lewis and Elizabeth Kingman and Bryce Gilbert alternating as Theo. They are joined by an ensemble including Alex Cook, Jesse Gerrild, Serenity Sanders Gerrild (dance captain), Celia Johnson, Truth Romel McCadney, Em Rose Miller, Jordan Miller, Kristin Osinski, Emily Smith and Joseph Turner.
