Twp. fire department plans to place levy on fall ballot

The Springfield Township trustees have taken the first step toward placing a fire levy on the ballot in November.

At the May 21 meeting, the trustees approved a resolution of necessity to place a 2.5-mill renewal levy with a 3.5-mill increase.

“They certainly have a need for additional funding,” said Mike Hampton, administrator.

The next step in the process is to send the resolution to the Lucas County auditor’s office to consider the request and determine the amount of property tax revenue that will be generated from the levy.
