Here Comes the Third Trimester
That’s right, the third trimester began on Thursday, February 24. As was announced in December, the district’s COVID-19 mitigation procedures have been updated and the wearing of facial coverings/masks became optional for staff and students.
As we begin to look towards the 2022-23 school year, it is important families consider the school students will attend. I know I have mentioned often that our four elementary schools will be reconfigured into three prekindergarten to third grade schools (Crissey, Dorr and Holloway) and one fourth and fifth grades school (Holland).
For those who have yet to explore, there is a whole section on the website devoted to the elementary reconfiguration. There are links that offer information on all schools, including floor plans, plus an interactive map, from which you can determine which prekindergarten through third grade school your students will get to attend.
We are planning to host open houses in each of the four buildings sometime in May. I promise to share the date and specifics as soon as they are finalized.
Announcing Summer Spark
Springfield Local Schools is excited to kick off a new summer program entitled, Summer Spark, for students entering kindergarten through eighth grade. The program will provide students with access to books, learning stations and outreach activities. We are partnering with several community organizations in an effort to connect students and families to experiences beyond the classroom walls. Weekly themes will be incorporated into the learning stations and outreach activities. Additionally, students will earn points for participating in the program and reading books at home. A district van will be located outside of our elementary buildings and middle school for approximately two hours, Monday through Friday, starting Monday, June 6. The last scheduled visit will be held on August 5. The district van will not host the program during the week of July 4 to 8. Families may sign up using the registration link that will be available in April.
