Springfield Schools staff recognized at year-end meeting

At the end-of-year assembly, Springfield School District recognized certified and classified employees and bade farewell to retiring staff members.

Barb Eckhart, above left, was named the certified employee for the year at the primary school level. Mrs. Eckhart teaches kindergarten at Dorr. She was noted for “providing a child-focused, positive learning environment that supports every child and family.”

Superintendent Matt Geha described Mrs. Eckhart as a “team player, role model and mentor. She is a true gift to education.”

Marty Pauken, above right, received employee of the year honors at the secondary level. His co-workers said he is a “strong, kind and intelligent role model who helps students not only be citizens and mini historians but better thinkers.”

Mr. Geha added, “Mr. Pauken is truly Mr. Middle School–his enthusiasm, attitude and work ethic has not diminished in 23 plus years.”

Receiving classified employee of the year recognition was Pam Corey, below. The superintendent pointed out that Mrs. Corey is “unparalleled in her support of the district and is found assisting in almost every department. Her work is superior.”

The assembly also included the Devil of a Difference honorees for May. They are classified staff–Beth Urton, Jeanene Drozdowicz, Laurie Schlegel and Rich Barnhizer; certified staff–each member of the schools certified team, and district staff–Deputy Aalea Robertson and Brett Warner, director of safety and security.
