The second round of mowing for 2022 on county roads began June 13 in Sylvania Township. Work will start on Sylvania Metamora Road and work south through the county until completion around June 30 in Providence and Waterville townships.
Work covers roadside mowing on shoulders of the roadway, the area between paved or stoned shoulders and the right-of-way line or utility poles.
It does not include areas that require boom mowing behind guardrails and in deep ditches. Completed work will result in adequate intersection sight distance in accordance with the Ohio Department of Transportation’s location and design manual.
The Lucas County engineer’s office awarded the work to Precision Irrigation and Mowing. The first round of mowing was completed in May.
There will be two more rounds of mowing for the year in August and late September.
Progress is weather permitting. Drivers are urged to slow down and give workers plenty of room to safely complete the work.
